Actually the problem is from inside ,,,sometimes the cd room wires gets loosen up or if the wires gets breaken ups your computer will not detect any cd room discs ,so you need to call a hardware guy and you need to fix it

Cd drive doesnt work

The motor on the drive may be broken. To get the disc out, straighten a paper clip, and insert it firmly into the tiny hole on the front of the drive.

Dvd drive won't read disks

Hi,

If it used to work but now doesn't and you have changed nothing then the following will help.

You can try a CD Laser cleaning kit, you put a liquid on a disc and put it in the dvd drive.
It will clean the laser, hopefully this will work.

If it still doesnt work its most likely at the end of its life.

Try a Music CD, a DVD, and any other discs, make sure the discs aren't scratched.

DVD drives are extremly cheap these days,
I got a Sony DVD Writers for £18 delivered from Play.com

Its very simple to fit,
Switch off PC
Just take of side of the PC Case
Unscrew the 2 screws on each side of the dvd player, disconnect the wires .
Then fit the new one

The PC will pick it up after a restart and it wont need drivers

Goodluck

The disc drive isnt recognizing some discs, I recently bought a few blank CD-RWs and when i put them in it doesnt show up in the computer.

Some optical units will simply refuse to work with some model of disks - you happened to stumble on one of these incompatibilities. Nothing you can do about it, just buy a different brand of disks.

Having a problem with windows media player. I put in a cd and try to get it to rip and it comes back and tells me to put in a disc. I put a disc in to play and it tells me to put in a disc. It is like it...

Does it only happen in Windows media player? If it does try gettting the updated version of media player. if it happens in other applications try changing the dics. If that doesnt work, you need to delete the lower and upper filters in the registry *Note* if you are not really comfortable in doing that then dont, Wrong move in the registry can mess up the operating system, here is the link how to delete the lower and upper filters

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

if these doesnt work uninstall then reinstall the driver for the optical drive..

try also getting an update from your computer manufacturer. update for the optical drive, or BIOS

lastly, try reinstalling the operating system, if these doesnt work change the optical drive because its a hardware issue..

hi there, it may be that the drivers for your CD/DVD drive may be erased. Go of Acer's website and see if they have your disk drives drivers and install them.

CD/DVD drive on e-Machine T3120 reads disc, but won't write disc!

You can try going to Emachines website and update the drivers for that drive. If that doesnt work, it is possible the drive itself is going bad.

CD drive doesnt recognize a dvd

Sorry to say, but a CD drive cannot read DVD's. You need a DVD reader. Thus, the CD drive will not recognize DVD media and tell you no valid disc is in the drive. I recommend buying a DVD RW (reader/writer), as they are inexpensive and enable you to burn DVDs as well as read them.
