Question about Hoover HDC6 Electric Dryer
Hello, my wife's Hoover HDV6UK keeps tripping the garage circuit breaker after 10-20 mins of running. The motor sounds like it is turning either direction ok and we are getting heat out of the vents ok.
I have replaced the element, but the new one tripped after 10 mins with a hell of a bang. Visible inspection does show the element to be ok with no damage. I double-checked the element wiring and it is ok.
Any ideas? My wife is now nagging for a newer dryer.. :(
You could have a loose connection in your outlet receptacle that heats up as power flows thru it.

There are only 2 things that it could be both are heat related:
THe thermostat and thermal limiter OR the heating element. We can not rule out the motor though. Then you can get into the control boards. Maybe it is time.

The motor probably has experienced locked rotor current and fried the windings. Of course the capacitor could have shorted. If you can find it, look at the capacitor and if the can looks like it's lid is swollen or pooched out, then go for replacing the Capacitor. If you remove the motor and smell the case and it smells burned, you motor is shot. It does not have to lock down to be bad. The windings do not rotate in an AC motor.
