Evening Skelton, Flip your laptop over with the battery compartment facing towards you. On the upper right hand side there is a compartment held closed with one screw. Remove the screw and flip up the compartment and you will see two DIMM sockets. Let us know if you have any other questions and please rate the posting.

Computor is slow

Many of these only came with 4 gigabytes of RAM memory. You need more with Windows 8 and 8.1. You can get another 4 gig of DDR3 Memory and put it in the open memory socket next to the 4 gig you have.

How do I open the unit to upgrade the memory?

to open the memory, turn off the laptop, remove the screws at the bottom part of the laptop. Remove the cables and battery, then remove the hard drive, and then remove the optical drive. Then you may remove the memory and insert the new memory upgrade in which I believe you purchase. Then you pc has an upgraded memory already.

Game keeps freezing

this is because your computer's hardware may not be up to the mark of the games. try upgrading your computor. it would be better if you would tell about your computor configuration and the games you are trying to play.

Pictures from computor to memory card

Hello there
Yes you can do tha. Just connect the the camera or if you use a card reader then connect the card reader and memory card to the Computer. After that the Camera or Card are shown as memory card in my computer. Open that and you can find all the photos on the camera. Copy the photos from your computer that you want to load onto the camera and paste them in the folder where the photos are there. Thats it , now you can see the photos on your camera.

Thank you
Good bye and Takecare

Motherboard upgrade

That computer uses a proprietary motherboard. Only that one or one from the same Gateway family will fit, and the power supply from an old PIII will not work with the newer systems. Don't waste your cash.

My medion radeon x740xl graphics card cant cope with new games.

Your computer has a PCI Express x16 connector. You can replace the card for less than $100; for example, a 9600GT card from NewEgg:

Note that card is designed for a PCI Express _2.0_ x16 connector. The card will be more capable than your computer, but will slow down to work with your computer. It's a solid card, reasonable price.

You may want to evaluate how much memory you have and consider upgrading it if you have less than, say, 1gb. Memory's cheap.
