Question about Ariens 34 In. Zoom Series Riding Mower

Ariens sierra 1440G belt configuration

I recently pulled my cutting deck off to clean it. I went to put it all back together and I think I have put the belt on the wrong way because the blades wont spin anymore when they are engaged, the pully just spins becuase the belt is too loose. Is there somewhere I can get a diagram of how the belt is set out or is there something that I need to tighten in order to get friction on the belt/pulley

Hi, you may have more than one problem. There should be one belt from the mower deck going to the electric clutch pulley which is on the engine shaft. On the shaft there are two pulleys, one belt comes from the mower deck, and the other comes from the transaxle pulley. check to see if your belts are in the right areas.

If this doesn’t work for you, please write back. Thanks,

Blades won't engage on my zero turn 50" cut husqvarna (approx2011) I found a 7" spring on the ground and don't know where it goes back on. Can u help

Looking underneath the mower on top of the deck there should be a flat metal arm with a flat faced pulley on the end. This pulley pushes against the belt that drives the mower deck . The spring should be hooked on that arm and pulled tight over to a place on the deck and this is what keeps the belt tight enough to turn the blades when you engage the pto switch. My recommendations to put this back on is to remove the belt pulley cover on the deck right side roll the belt off at that pulley giving you a bunch of slack so you can hook up the spring and put the belt in the right position on everything else then go back to the deck right hand pulley start putting the belt back on that pulley and when it is to tight to get it all the way on reach under the deck and use the blade as leverage to finish turning the pulley and walk that belt on the rest of the way ,it will not hurt a thing, all you are doing is pulling that 7 inch spring over like it was intended to be, then replace the cover on the deck spindle.

What size belt other than the deck belt do I need for an ariens riding mower 42" cut?

I usually visit the manufacturer's website and download manuals that provide specific information. You will need the model number and serial number of your machine.

While i was cutting my grass my tractor istop and backed up to cut some grass that i had missed i then put it to forward gear then my mower did`nt go forward. i removed my mowing deck and checked my belts...

sounds like you might either have the wrong size belt or its not routed correctly. if you provide the model number i can show you diagram and part number (size) of belt.

Why won't the blades engage on my Ariens 911403

Chances are the deck drive belt has been knocked off one of the pulleys or the drive clutch won't engage properly. With the spark plug wire removed, rotate the blades by hand and make sure they both move together. This verifies the blade linking belt is OK. Now engage the blade operating control and feel for resistance as you rotate the blades. If you feel no change in resistance, remove the belt cover and reinstall the drive belt over the pulleys and tensioner/clutch mechanism.

I think that I over tightened the lock nut on one side (not using a tort wrench) after changing the mowing blades. I don't think it is cutting now. When I take the blades off from cutting, one blade...

there is a star shaped, or other, pattern on the bottom of the mandrel which fixes it into the blade. this has stripped so the blade is freewheeling on the mandrel. if you cannot remove the blade bolt, I think you are going to have to remove the deck and take it to a fabrication or machine shop to have them remove the blade from the mandrel. then you buy a new mandrel and a new blade, at a small engine repair shop, put it back together. take a picture of the top of the deck before you remove the deck belt so you know how to put it back on after you have the new mandrel bolted in. if it is old you may just want to replace all the mandrels while you are at it. they are less than 50 bucks each.

The mower blades don't properly engage. It appears the blades are turning before you actually flip the lever to engage them. Not sure if belt needs replaced or adjusted or something else is wrong.

This can happen when the engaging mechanism on the mower deck can not move properly. This could be because there is debris on the deck that is causing interference. It can also happen if you have some corrosion on the deck that is resisting proper operation. So, clean the deck, this is best done by removing the deck. It usually is not very hard to remove, just remember what you pulled off and how it goes to put it back together. There may be half a dozen pins to pull and then move the cable or linkage, raise the mechanism and the deck should slide out pretty easy. Inspect and clean the deck. Then manually manipulate the tensioning pulley, this may take some force to do, depends on the one you have but you should be able to do it by hand. Lubricate if necessary. While the deck is out inspect the belt for wear and replace if necessary. Reassemble and test.

How do i replace a blade that had fallen off. 42 inch tractor. The main problem is how to get underneath the tractor?

To replace blades, belts, sharpen blades, etc. one must remove what is called the cutting deck from the tractor.
Once the deck is off the tractor, pull it out, turn it over and you can work on the blades.

I have a craftsman gt5000 26hp 54" deck. I removed the cutting deck cleaned and replaced blades then when i put it all together the belt wont fit. Theres a belt tensioner rod that i disengaged but...

Belts do not change length. You are doing something wrong with the routing. Maybe the tensioner goes on the other side of the belt or the belt should be routed around the other side of both the tensioner & idler.
