Thanks - done this and the belt is still tight?

Does that mean it is probably the motor ?

At £150 to buy it looks like a replacement might be better than a repair?

    Hi.

    Re dryer problem.

Could be a faulty start capacitor, this is located at the rear right hand side of the m/c inside.

It will entail removing top cover and side panel. It is a round cylinder about 4" long by the side of the motor with wires attached to it.

    Hope this helps.

What could possibly the reason my amana dryer wont tumble and just buzzes when you push the start button

Could be a broken belt spin the tumbler by hand it if it spins real easy the belt is off or broke another thing to try if you have resistance when turning the drum have a helper for this one open the door and hold the door switch in set timer to a cycle and press start while holding switch and buzzing spin drum and see if it will continue to rotate while holding switch if so motor going bad

Hotpoint TDC62p is making a buzzing/humming sound and the drum will not spin though it does move if you push it.

Either something is binding the blower wheel up or the motor is bad. The best thing is to take the front of the machine off to access the blower wheel to verify ifanything is indeed binding it.IF not read the next section.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

Hotpoint TDL 14 Dryer. Motor is working but drum not turning?

Remove the top cover and check to see if the belt is o/k, or could be collapsed rear bearing, remove the rear cover and check the drum bearing.

Kenmore Elite Dryer HE4 Quietpak 9, has 4 dim lights showing on the console display but won't start or respond, I have bought brand new and replaced all sensors. Replaced heating element. looked like the original heating element. Pack came with new sensors. I did not test with a multimeter. My plan is to measure continuity on all the old sensors. Then do the same on the new ones. The electronic board looks good, does not smell burnt or old burnt smell. I cleaned all the lint in this dryer but unfortunately the motor has some lint in it which I surfaced cleaned. The only way to get to the motor is to remove the drum. So far I have soent $40 on all parts and a week works of troubleshooting as a novice. On the main display read, it shows two small dim lot red lines, wish I could send you a picture. Also when the fuse is off I plugged in the dryer and all the lights turned on normal. All looked in working condition except of course it did not turn on, I have not replaced the switch and with the new fuse, by the way, I bought 5 to 6 of the same fuses thinking I was burning them, that's why I bought a multimeter to retest them to see if they are not burnt. When I plug in the fuse it goes black but the door light works. I have held down the start button, nothing, held down the cancel button, nothing, I have done the crazy push all buttons even shook the machine a bit just in case something was causing whatever myth I was conjuring. I am about to give up and just buy a used one from someone else but I think I can fix this, it should be very simple to fix.
