LG26LC55 - No Picture on HD I bought a LG26LC55 and I cannot get the HD to work. I have connected the aerial to the connection in the wall and with that i just get fuzzy analogue pictures. When i try and autotune the hD it picks up a few channels but then it shows no picture or sound, it just says "loading text" on screen. Please tell me how i can get the HD working. thanks

SOURCE: new aerial wont pick up

Hi.

If you put aerial up your self was it wide band aerial ?
Is it in the atic or on the roof ?
Have you used decent quality cable (not the cheap stuff)
How long is cable run from aerial ?
Have you checked that when you fitted rf plugs that none of the braid strands are touching solid copper inner core ?
Ask an earial installer or Tv shop what the signal strength is like in your area.

SOURCE: i have a samsung LCD

If you are talking about HDTV tuner, It requires good antenna input and 5V for the antenna preamplifier. Perhaps you may type the symptoms when you switch to tuner, such as no signal etc.
You may also take a snapshot of the unit and connections and put here as you can easily upload the images so we can diagnose it further

Can't get a picture on our free to air TV set it keeps coming up no signal, we have a picture and sound on foxtel

you may find that the aerial inside your home was disconnected and used to wire up Foxtel in the roof, some technicians do that,

meaning all your Tv Outs on the wall would now be connected to Foxtel now instead of the aerial

if you can gain access to the junction of where all the Cable Coax wiring is in the roof make sure they haven't used the tv aerial cables for Foxtel ....just go check where your Aerial comes in and see it is still connected to the junction and not pulled out and a foxtel is going into it instead of the aerial

I have a Panasonic tv model TH 42PZ80B; a Panasinic Blu-Ray dvd model DMP-BD50; a sky box (not as yet HD) and a Sony video SLV-SE 830G. I have a Satellite dish and a normal TV aerial. In the loft I have a...

You need to try and isolate the piece of equipment which is causing the problem.

You've already tried the aerial lead direct to the TV and this is OK.

Disconnect all scart leads and try the RF on its own.

Try the Aerial lead to video, then video to TV.

Try aerial direct to Sky box, then to TV.

Try just connecting the RF out from the Sky box to the TV (no aerial input), can you tune into a good channel 68 picture from the Sky box.

Then Try the VCR to the Sky box (no aerial input), see if you can tune into the VCR and Sky channel.
Hope that helps.......

My Tristar TV signal booster has a red light illuminated, I think is says 'short' above it. Is the booster working? I have fault on my TV it maybe this. The booster has been working fine up till...

I too have a red "short" light on my Tristar booster. However- I've illiminated the Tristar as I unplugged it and connected my tv directly to the 13amp mains and b) connected the aerial directly to the aerial wall socket which is separately boosted from a distribution amplifier box in the loft. Picture was U/S so the "short" is probably in my cabling in the loft (I've been moving the aerial about lately).Hence I suggest initially to unplug the Tristar and check the fault is not back further up the line ie the cable and booster at top of house. Hope that all makes sense.ps before noticing the red "fault" light, my picture had gone to pot.

If you are using the TV's tuner and an aerial, the aerial has a problem , (one of the reflectors/elements has come off or is bent) or the tuner unit has gone low gain at the lower frequencies.
Have a look outside at your aerial. Or there is a poor connection in the aerial system.
Hope that helps

It pause temporarily at times during regular tv programming. What can the problem be?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "pause", but if you mean the picture freezes or pixellates and the sound cuts outs then it's caused by a bad signal - know as "Digital Cliff Edge" - see attached image.

If you are using an aerial, check all your cables are connected properly and that your aerial is securely mounted, pointing in the right direction and none of the elements have become detached - particularly the dipole where the co-axial cable attaches.

If you are using a dish, again check all your cables are connected properly and that your dish is securely mounted. If the bolts are loose and you can move the dish by hand, then it's possible that your dish has moved from the correct alignment. You will ideally need a signal meter to correct this although it can be done by trial and error.

You should also note that dishes are susceptible to signal-loss during bad weather, particularly strong wind, heavy rain and snow. If you are only losing picture in bad weather, there isn't much you can do apart from making sure the dish is rigidly fixed.

If your aerial/dish is OK, try replacing your fly-leads (the short section from the wall socket to the TV) and/or the cable from the aerial/dish to your TV.

Hope this helps.

Tv with built-in digital tuner not receiving any channels

Is your outdoor aerial a proper freeview aerial and are you in a strong or weak signal area. You can check here:http://www.stevelarkins.freeuk.com/freeview_digital_tv.htm
Also check your connections as the coax may be shorting with the braid or a bad connection.once checked try ordinary channels on upstairs tv and if ok retune all your digital channels.
This can be due to a few problems.Firstly make sure your aerial is pointing in the right direction as beam aerials attenuate(disregard) signals which are not pointing directly at the aerial.
make sure you are using good quality 75ohm cable i.e rg6 and connections are good and not shorting out.
The length of run of the cable will also affect the signal as will any splitters or joins in the cable.
If you know the signal is good in your area then it will be down to the aerial, cable terminations ,aerial position or a combination of these.
If the signal is poor you can either...Buy a high db gain arial which will amplify the signal and or a masthead preamp which will again boost the signal.
please note that if your aerial is not pointing in the correct direction then any boosting of a bad signal i.e ghosting...will only make it worse.
try starting from aerial direction then connections then a high gain aerial and or booster.

No colour when digital set top box attached

Ensure the set top box is set to the correct video out. Probably RGB if scart lead or CVBS if coax lead.

I want to add a DVD recorder into my TV set up

If I'm right On the DVD recorder there should be an aerial input and an output. Connect external aerial to the output then run a second from the output to the TV. Then use the HDMI to connect the DVD. This will then give you the option of recording one channel on the DVD whilst watching another thru the receiver thats built into the TV. You will then get the best poss picture when viewing DVD

make sure yo have the leads connected correctly, after you connected an aerial lead from the box to the tv aerial input, make sure the box is switched on then tune the tv until you see a signal from the box (usually 35)if you do it through a video you may find its on the same frequency causing ghosting on the picture,in which case you will have to change the output frequency of the box or thee video

PS2

By an aerial do you mean a converter?
For the neew TV's you don't need one. Just plug it in using A/V cable (yellow is video, red and white are audio). Be sure you take note of which input you are plugging it into on the TV, and then use your TV's remote to change the video input (usually will be labeled video or TV/Video on the remote) to the one you plugged the PS2 into.
