Do you have another monitor you could try? if your monitor is fine then you most likely have a problem with the video card, hows your gateway warranty is it out? I think you might need to replace the video card, Seems your computer will fit a PCI (old) style videocard if you decide to replace it, I think this one is out of warranty seems quite old. You might want to take it to a local computer repair shop to get it repaired.

Blank, doesn't boot, and seems to shut down in under 15 minutes.

My nephew's W350A had the same issue last year. It turned out that the CPU was loose in its socket and not allowing the POST cycle to run. You will need to remove the back cover and the bracket that goes across the CPU. Remove the CPU and clean the pins with a little rubbing alcohol, re-install and you should be fine. Remember to aply a little more heat-sink grease across the top of the cpu before putting the bracket back on. This will help keep it running cooler.

My emachine is stuck cycling at start up

no computer is trash when you are dealing with a software issue.

boot up and tap on the f8 key... when you get to that screen... choose safe mode... if it successfully boots.... go to start menu... and restart again... it should boot... if it wants to do the update let it.... if still nothing.... f8 again and choose last known good configuration

Computer will seem to start, but

if the screen comes up and goes blank again,

1.Remove and replace your RAM with a known good RAM to test with, if it persist or continue, then

2.repair your operating system by re-updating it,this will help it to recover from the missing files
