Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook
I repeatedly get the message "Power Surge on Hub Port: A USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port. You should disconnect the device." This is despite the fact that no device is plugged in. It doesn't seem to affect the functionality of the computer as far as I can tell but it is still concerning. Any advice on how to address this?
That series of laptop has a problem with it's battery which causes malfunction...
Moreover, make sure you have current BIOS and driver updates for you laptop, not all manufactures offer complete firmware updates like Lenovo; take advantage of it.

If it is the case, please try below solution:
When you wake up a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer from hibernation or from standby, you may receive the following error message:
Power Surge on Hub Port: A USB Device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port. This error message is displayed even if there are no USB devices connected to the computer. WORKAROUND loadTOCNode(1, 'workaround'); To work around this issue, disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller.
Close Device Manager.
