Haven't figured it out yet then here's how.... undo the four obvious screws. The ni the mifddle at both sides there's tow 'stick out' bits from the attached to the middle sides on the bottom bit of the case. First you pull the two ends up and twist a bit and use more force than you think you should. CRACK it comes apart. Next itme, better if you do this first time, push a small screwdriver carefully against the grey liner in the mifddle at one side whilst holding open the tow end on the same side. Less of a crack and less force but more hands needed and it open. Cheers from Knobcottage

My hard drive is not recognized in my mac. The light is blue, neve turns to green

Have you tried to connect the drive to a different computer? You can also try to open Disk Utility (use spotlight search to find it). My guess is it doesn't show up there which means there is a problem with the Buffalo device. The disk is most likely fine, just the Buffalo casing needs to be replaced.

The device probably can with a Buffalo utility/driver disk. The other computer will need these drivers to recognize the device. If you lost the driver disk, you can download them here: http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads

Driver for HD-PNTU3

This drive showing as not supported for Linux as you mentioned.
Usually this is due to the board inside the enclosure.
You could crack open the case and mount the drive internally which would resolve this issue.
Otherwise you are down to trying to find a driver (not made for this model) that will be recognized by your system.

Mike

How to open the case safely (without damaging it)?

Remove all screws from the enclosure, and then slide a then metal (non magnetic) slide to pop the clips off of the sides of the enclosure, lengthwise. You can do it without breaking the plastic
