Question about Philips MMS 460 - PC multimedia home theatre speaker system - 80 Watt (Total) System

1 Answer

Hi. I have had a Philips MMS 460 5.1 surround sound system for about a year already. However, its been plugged and unplugged from my computer to my ipod in various times. However, there is no power now and i do not know why. I have even replaced the adapter with another one of the same output and input thinking it might be the adapter but it still does not work and i do not know why. Any help would be nice. thanks

There is most likely an internal problem then and it would need to be tested to see what has exactly happened to it
if you cannot work on this then taking it in to a repair shop or seeing what phillips can do for you would be a couple of options

Hello, i have phillips 460 5.1 speakers.. the sub is buzzing/humming REALLY loud.. it does it every now and again.. will start of quiet, then gradually get louder. they are a few years old now,...

the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your sound card dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer
hope this helps

Found it.....

Replaced the 1.5Amp 12v Reg with a 3Amp 12v and heatsink...also replace all the electrolitics in the same area. Reasoning being gone leaky due to hot heasink.

Remember to Silicon the heatsink down afterwards as it rattles if you dont!!!!

No sound

Most computers use the GREEN output jack on the sound card for playback...plug your headphones in the back where the speakers go...sound? Yes...then verify you ahve the speaker system put together you don't...note: self powered speakers must be plugged in to work (electrical plugged in). If no...then you got a bigger fish to fry... Good lUck
