One of the in-built ethernet adaptor's on a asus p5gc mx/1333 motherboard has outdated driver. is there any way i can download a free version of the ethernet driver from the net?

Yes there is!

You can go to this website:

http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=PYvbfOokwxUzJky3

Choose "Download" from the tab below. And choose your operating system (Vista or XP).
Then it would give you choices to download "LAN". Just click LAN and it will give you different download links and version of the latest available drivers.

Thanks and hope it works for you!

Networking/Motherboard- does not recognize networking devices

Can't WinXP find appropriate driver for your lan card? If Asus did not provide a driver for its built-in lan, i think windows XP already has the driver built in its cache. try to install it using the wiz.

Can't connect to internet after Windows XP reinstall.

Asus doesn't make it easy LOL. Here's the link you need to download the LAN files (and any other devices not working). When you click on the link, scroll down to XP and you'll get a list of drivers for this Motherboard. Best of luck to you!

Asus P4B533, problem with LAN drivers...!

The first thing I'd do if I were you is check in control panel/ system/ hardware and then click on device manager. Ensure that there's no yellow question marks. Windows may have detected your network adapter but may not have known where to look for it. if that's the case, click on the question mark and update the driver from there. Select the option NOT to search for the best driver, but instead, enter the drive and path to where your new driver is installed.

If there are no yellow question marks, go to your current LAN driver in device manager list, highlight it, right click and select "Uninstall Driver". Next, click on the "Action" menu option at the top of the page and select "scan for hardware changes" This should prompt the installation Wizard to start, and you can enter the drive and path location of your new driver in the search option (where it says "include this location.." and navigate to it using the browse feature).

Hope this made sense and that is solves your problem.
