Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S2386 Notebook
When my computer is rebooted I am prompted for activation, when I attempt to enter the product key which I have on the back of my computer which is for Vista Basic it says that the product key will not work for this edition of Windows Vista You must either run windows vista setup or enter a windows vista ultimate key, I don't have any of the software that came with this laptop because I purchased this used so I don't have the setup disc and when I called Toshiba the referred me to Microsoft and then when I called Microsoft, they verified that they key I have is valid but I need a system recovery disc and referred me back to Toshiba, Is there something I could just download to restore the Vista Home Basic O/S? Thank You!!! I've got a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2386 that wouldn't boot. Used the recovery disk. I get a menu to pick the, Wizard or Other Options. Wizard ends with disk error. Other Options, gets me to System Recovery Options: Startup Repair ends in error. System Restore ends in error. Complete PC Restore...you get the picture. I can get to the command prompt. "Administrator: X:windowssystem32cmd.exe". The prompt says that I'm in drive X. X=sources ecoveryTools>_ I can change to Drive D: I believe that X is the CD drive and D: is the hard drive? During a previous boot the Complete PC Restore allowed me to wipe the drive. I was just going for an out of the box fix. OH, at the end of about 6hrs of deleting...ended in error. Hoping I can fix it from the dos prompt. Any help would be great.
I guess that the computer has installed vista ultimate and the creation of recovery cd option has gone with it. the new recovery cd will solve all your problems.
