The Japanese use a different keyboard format; not an ISO (US) keyboard format. What Operating System are you using? Moreover, how did you "convert it?"

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Mac laptop keys are not showing letters but symbols and delete key not working. How do I unlock this problem?

Hi,

There could be a couple of possibilities :-

1. Faulty keypad
2. IC on the main board

Faulty keyboard is more often a problem. Even though there is no dust and dirt, faulty keyboard may result in all the above said symptoms. If you press a letter key, a symbol might be there. If you press delete key, it might not work. The best option what i follow in my shop is replacement of keyboard. There are certain days when i only replace few keys, but more often if this is a problem with more than 5 keys or with all the keys on the notebook, better to go for a new keyboard. For your laptop, always prefer hard keys as those are more durable than the soft keys.

IC on the notebook is again one of the reasons. This is usually a problem with old laptops, such as 5 to 7 years old. New laptops generally do not have this problem. If laptop IC is at fault, soldering is required to get it fixed. It needs a tech to confirm the faulty IC on the mainboard and then followed by replacement.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

REGIONAL SETTINGS

Windows Me defines which Windows and MS-DOS code pages and
system fonts are installed on your computer. You cannot change
these settings after Setup.

Regional Settings also defines which international settings--
such as date, currency, time formats, and sort orders for
programs your computer will use.

To change your international settings after Setup:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Open Regional Settings. If you do not see the Regional Settings
icon, click View All Control Panel Options.

3. On the Regional Settings tab, select the appropriate language
  and country/region.

4. To change your number, currency, time, and date settings,
click the respective tab, and then make your changes.

5. Click OK.

Hitachi flora laptop and problems with typing @ symbol

Using it in English mode? Does that mean that Windows is set to English??

Does it have a standard QWERTY english keyboard?? If it has a japanese keyboard, with windows set to English, then the keys will be different. Shift key with number 2 gives you the @ symbol on a QWERTY english keyboard.
