Ok, you need to type msconfig in the in the search bar in the start menu, when the window pos up select the startup tab and uncheck the boxes that says WMP in the name, and click apply and exit, reboot the machine so the registry is updated, now you will ahve the pc booting without WPM starting up at all!!!!!
any probz and post back'

I have the same problem with WMP and have tried everything including a new keyboard. I can't type msconfig without WMP popping up. It seems like all the files are associated to WMP. My desktop icons all have windows icon instead of the old generic ones, I can't open outlook, I have no restore point. I would appreciate any other suggestions...

I had the problem for some time, and i tried all of the above but nothing helped, when i uninstalled the WMP, VLC Player started popping up, and when i uninstalled that, iTunes started popping up, i was lost..... until someone told me to check on my keyboard by the media player key, and i found that it was sticky (i guess some sweet beverage spilled on it, and it was pressed down, so whenever i pressed any key on the keyboard it engaged and made the default media player pop up...) so i cleaned it with some alcohol and thank g-d the problem was gone!!!

Now Select the Windows Player as MP3 Universal Player..
After u do so, it wil take some time

Error when trying to download MS strrets and trips 2006 w/ GPS lo

I have used every version of streets & Trips since 05, and have never had any issue with Win Media Player, currently using streets 2009 on one machine with Windows 7 RC1, which has WMP 11, and on another PC streets 2008 and Vista with WMP 11. You may need to change your default program settings for media back to WMP if you ever had another media player installed.

Wmp 11 on vista

right click on your cd rom drive. Click on properties, then, autoplay>Select Music cd from dropdown menu. then select "take no action" for disabling WMP popup , if you have another cd player software, choose it to make that popup when you insert cd.

Sorry to say, That wonf fix your WMP but the problem. And sorry, there is not enough info to help you on WMP fixing.

Thanks

I try to download songs, but AutoPlay keeps popping up.

Test another USB port on your computer, and see if you get the same result. If you get the same result, the USB cable may be faulty.

Here is a test you can do to see if the problem really is the USB cable, or if it is something else:
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
