Question about NetGear RP114 Router

1 Answer

I have 1 desktop pc, laptop, and linksys router all connected through charter. The laptop is wireless and my desktop is connected via ethernet cord. We were trying to network our computers through this. How can we network our computers through the router and am I missing any parts required in order to do this?

As long as all the computers can get online, you can set up the network by going to Start > Control Panel>Network Connections> on the left column, click on Setup a Home or Small Office network. Then just follow the prompts.
Here is a tutorial for XP:

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Linksys WRRT300n v1.1 will not connect to any wireless device

Some times this is do to the way charters network is provisioned. The reason I know this is I always used my own routers to avoid rental fee. All of the sudden none of my four routers will work with charter. They try to delicately say it's a problem with my routers, I know they are working fine. Long and short you may not be able to use your router with charter because of the way they are provisioning similar to the way a modem is provisioned. They won't tell you this because they are probably not legally allowed to do it. Try to call a tech @ charter and casually ask what routers work well with their network or ask them to recomend a router that will work well, or you can continue to fight with the one you with possibly no avial. Hope this helps.

Desk top/ethernet to linksys router not recognizing.

First connect that desktop to linksys with ethernet cable.
then set ip property to network adapter .
Set ip address ,subnet mask and gateway ip to ip property.
Set ip address as the ip of network like if router ip is 192.168.1.1 so set ip like 192.168.1.15
set subnet mask as same as your other computer.
Set default gatway ip as your router ip.
Then you can connect internet.
Let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks.

I have linksys router,it's connect with lan cabel but without lan cable router unable to connect to my laptop

All routers need to have a ethernet cord from the ISP Device. Most people run Laptops Wireless from there routers or if its stationary run another ethernet cord from an open port behind the router to your laptop.

run the telephone line from your modem into the wall jack. From the modem connect a network cable (cat5) into the back ( via the uplink port) of your linksys router . Your router can now route the IP from the modem.

Wireless router needing ethernet connection?

Hi ABVT66 - Didn't your router come with two short cables? It should have. One is the cable that hooks up the modem to your router and the other is the cat5 (ethernet) cable that connects your router to your pc. Let me know if you have these cables. Also, if you check your device manager on your pc, click on the + next to network adapters and it will tell you your network adapter. DON'T RATE THIS 'TIL WE'RE DONE. Thanks.
