i have the same problem please if anyone know how to fix it let me know my e-mail zo2a@hotmail.com thanx

same thing : 1 long two short beeps.
seems to be a graphics-adapter failure in the whole product line of the dv2000.
solution: replace mainboard (which may have the same failure inside)
more efficient: buy a new note/netbook

The issue is usually caused by broken solder connections of the GPU chip. There are two ways to fix this problem. You can reflow the GPU (repairs the solder connections) or replace the logic board alltogether. You can try to replace the part yourself, it is available on any auction website. There is a Laptop repair guide that teaches you how to install the part yourself. Google how to reflow a motherboard and you will find ways to re-heat the board to repair the solder connections, chances of success of DIY reflow are around 50%. If you'd rather not install it yourself, you can have a third party laptop repair service do it for you.

What might be the cause of hp pavillion dv2000 not displaying on the screen at start up and giving 3 beeps, 1 long and 2 short, sometimes it boot but doesn't get to the desktop area?

1 long beep followed by two short beeps is usually indicative of a failed/failing display adapter. On something as.... rustic as your dv2000 it can be fixed.... but probably would see better value from just replacing the unit.

Problem for HP HP Pavilion dv2000 15.4" Notebook Laptop PC The power is OK but I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps when switching on, the screen remains blank and no activity on the laptop

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
Hope this gives you the information you need

HP DV2000, one long beep followed by two short beeps...doesnt boot up. after repeated attempts, finally got one solution (sounds silly though), but works everytime for me. i plugged power supply and kept...

Hello there yog26.

Those beeps you hear are a trouble report your BIOS is trying to tell you about in the only language she knows.

1 long, 2 short beeps indicate the following pre-scripted error message:

"Video adapter error: Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly."
  • The "video adapter" is the physical device (aka card).
  • "not seated properly" means connecting cable(s) are not full-in connected.
Corrective actions will require opening case and physically inspecting connections, and if still troubled, swapping out the video card with a "known good" one to test.

If that is beyond your geek-ability, it's PC tech repair time.

Good luck, and please do post back ...
  • to let me (and interested others) know how things worked out,
  • to provide clarification or feedback,
  • if you have ANY further questions.
Today's the best day of my life ... and NOW you're part of it!

One long beep and 2 short beeps

Depending upon your BIOS manufacturer, generally this POST error code means either a video card problem or a motherboard problem. If the RAM is OK then you have a motherboard problem, and this may not be cost effective to fix. Consider putting your money towards a new laptop, remove the hard disk and put it into an external USB adapter case and use it as an USB hard drive for backup etc.

One long beep, two shorter beeps - HP laptop will not start up

Hi...
I had the same problem...
The solution is only temporary and you will have to reapply it after around 5 to 6 boots cuz it'll just happen again (the beep syndrome).

Just heat up the laptop by turning it on and covering its air vents with your hands.

Then after you hear the beeps turn it off.
Turn the laptop on again and immediately turn it over upside down with the lid closed ofcoarse (simply put it on its back).Hopefully you wont hear the beeps and when you open up the laptop lcd...voila display.

1 long beep and 2 short beeps

This must be an Award BIOS.

1 long and 2 short beeps indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.

I doubt there is anything you can do, other then taking it in for service.

It's most likely the video controller.

You might try connecting an external monitor, but I doubt it will function.

This issue can be caused by any of the below situations.
  1. New hardware conflicting with old hardware.
  2. Bad or failing hardware device.
  3. Connections not connected or connected properly.
  4. Recent electrical storm that caused a surge that damaged computer.
  5. Other hardware issue.

HP 1 long and 2 short beeps

I had the same problem. Turn on your laptop (dv2000) and let it do its thing with the black screen and One long and Two short beeps. Keep the laptop plugged in...Now here is where the "are you kidding me" part kicks in.

Wrap your laptop (while it's on) in a blanket and put it on a bed or a couch (where the laptop won't have room to circulate air beneath it). You must leave it wrapped in the blanket for about 30 minutes minimum, or wait an hour if possible.

Chances are, your laptop will get ver hot and shut itself down at some point before you come back in an hour. When the hour is up, try turning on your laptop again. Ideally, it should work and you now have a working laptop again.

I realize this sounds crazy, but I am typing this quick fix from my dv2000 after doing exactly what i just subscribed. I read it on some other forum when i was on my wife's pc. If this doesn't work the first time, try it one or two more times. This trick has something to do with getting a "broken" (?) connection between the video card and the motherboard soddering back together.

Hope this helps at least one of you. Good luck.
