Problem for Siemens SpeedStream Modem (4100) (SS4100)
Siemens Speed Stream 4100 modem - worked last week - now no lights

This may be a stupid question - but the modem worked fine last week. I had to uninstall all of AT&T software, now in tryong to re-connect through DSL, the modem has no lights - nothhing.
(I have a Mac, if it makes a difference).
Is the modem dead, or do I need to reinstall the software for it to work (make the modems lights come on)?
Something tells me the modem is dead, but how? It's brand new.
Any and all advice truly appreciated because at this point I am paying for 2 internet connections services.

- That's what I was thinking, but there are no lights on the modem when plugged in. That doesn't make sense.The last time I tried to use it (AT&T admittedly had a problem with their server), the lights were on - on the modem. Now, nothing.
Make sense to you?

Well, I'm sorry that i could't to your help earlier.. Every device that is connected to the computer has to be recognized by the former, and hence the hardware that is connected comes with a utility CD.. Though most of the computers dont need and recognise the device on being connected....
If you were given any CD along with the product, make sure you install to prevent trouble and compatibility.....(Siemen 4100 modems dont carry any INSTALLATION SOFTWARES) Now to arrive at your problem,
Note: just connect it and troubleshoot as below:
1a. Your modem carries 5lights Power, Ethernet, DSL,Internet & Activity.
Once the modem is installed, the Power light and the Ethernet will glow by default after a transitory patch of Power lights going from REDto blinking RED and then to Solid GREEN and the Ethernet also turning Solid GREEN.
If this happens, then the computer is LAN connected and just with a DSL connection can connect to the internet..
1b. If the Power light dont turn Solid GREEN, the two possibilities

beg to differ with sandrew, no modem requires any isp software,
you might want to check the little on/off button at the back of the modem, maybe that will bring all the lights back on
