DV1000 KeyBoard Replacement

I used instructions from happi to take the old key board out - worked slick!
When I install the new one how firmly do you press the contacts back into the motherboard?
Mine has orange juice spilled on it - can I soak it in an alchol solution to disolve the sticky stuff anfd get it working?

You press just enough to hear it click. Light pressure... You will feel the difference when it snaps into place.

Last week I had a new motherboard installed on my Asus Q500A laptop. When I got it back the keyboard backlights no longer worked. This wasn't a problem before I sent it out for repair.

Don't get mad. If your mother board was replaced it was probable replaced with one that was system compatible not necessarily one that was OEM(original manufacturers equipment). A keyboard back light strikes me as model specific and not necessarily a standard you would find on a non-OEM replacement part. My guess is, nothing is wrong with your equipment. You just had better equipment than they are replacing it with. I wouldn't be happy if it was repaired by the manufacturer. But it may be as good as it gets at your local computer place or if you bought the parts yourself. I'll give you a tip I use to keep my mother boards crispy, not fried. 1 always run a laptop cooler. 2 never clog the vents by using on a bed or pillow, & 3 buy systems that run AMD chips because they run cooler.

The keyboard of my hp dv1000 does not work. some

It sounds like your keyboard may have bit the dust !
If you can get to a DOS Prompt or word pad to check, I will explain.
Start with going across all the top key's. If you find one that does not work, go directly below it and see if that key left to right works. If not your connection is corrupt and the keyboard should be replaced. Example: Type Y and U if the U does not work go below to the J and K, if they don't work, 1 or more of the integrated connections are bad and you will more that likely see at-least 8-10 more key's in that region that also don't work.
Keyboard for the DV1000 units can be purchased for $16.00 to $30.00 US. on (ebay)
Replacing the key board is not a bad job, but will require a little time.
Good luck.
P.S. DV1000 units are fairly old and you got your money's worth out of that one. !

Screen replacement.taking the old off and installing the new

OK this is sorta ez and hard. Before you start unplug and take out battery. Ok on most laptops on the top part of the keyboard area is space where there are buttons for volume/power/etc. That piece comes off by using a tiny screw driver. Look for a little dip in the plastic it unsnaps there by popping it up. once this is off you remove the keyboard by removing either the 2 or 3 screws that hold it down. Now dont yank the keyboard out since there is data cable you need to pull out. By holding the keyboard in 45 degree you can pull the data plug from its socket. Now you have the keyboard out and from there u can see that there is a cable that runs to your lcd. Unplug it. That was the worst part of the ordeal. Now close your LCD and turn the lappy over and directyl under the lcd hinge under the laptop should be a tiny bolt holding the hinge down. Remove those and then open the laptop up at and try to pull the LCD out if it still dont come out then there are 2 more screws on each hinge u need to remove. Now it should come off. VIola its done now just put back the new one in same fashion. First hinges

I need open the Lap for clean the keyboard

You can lift the affected keys off the keyboard to get at the key contacts. Clean with solvent spray cleaner under the rubber contacts.
The keys can be replaced by positioning over the plactic hinges and pressed home until it clicks into place.
If this doesn't work you will need to replace the keyboard.
Keyboard replacements are available on the Internet, I replaced one from Yall Store for approx. $60
