Output to s-video

Got my Thinkpad used and don't know how to play my power point show (or other stuff like picture files) on my TV. Thought maybe I'd use the s-video port but don't know how to access the thing. Ideas?
Thanks,
Bill K

When I tried this I plugged in the cable between TV and Thinkpad and rebooted it, Then I could see the other display in Display settings.

Why not just do a System Restore to a point (date and time) before you started turning stuff off? I'm not sure which operating system you have but in windows Xp and Vista you get to system restore by clicking Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore... Once it is up you can select a date and time for which to restore, they are called Restore Points.

Don't worry, System Restore does not cause you to lose any data, documents, music, pictures or videos. You could lose a Program that was installed after the restore point.

On the other hand, System Recovery LOSE EVERYTHING. It sets your system back to the point of when you first purchased it.

Ibm thinkpad t43 backlight inverter issue

Did you say the the video output flickers on and off when you connect an external monitor to the video output. If the inverter is faulty this would not affect the video output and the external monitor would not flicker but if the external monitor flickers it would point to a video card problem.

Warning screen comes up and warns my files will be dumped and to uninstall newly installed .. BUT nothing has been installed? I believe this is related to video card it appeared immediately after playing a...

ok, you're description is a bit fuzzy, but it sounds like a Warning Box pops up and warns that _______ files will be dumped ________ and to uninstall newly installed ________ (software/hardware).

At first thought, it sounds more like a virus or malware than a real warning. What exactly does it say in the Warning and are you SURE that the email you opened and played a video from was sent by a friend AND the friend actually says they meant to send it to you? Malware could easily send itself to you inside an email with a video in it from a friends email account.

Also, updating drivers probably isn't the issue if it happens when you are not watching that video.

Update and run your antivirus program and maybe post some more specifics. Thanks

How to connect IBM T61 to my Samsung LCD TV 40'' 3xHDMI

If you have an s-video port you will need to buy s-video cables and a separate audio cable for sound. With HDMI you will only need 1 cable for both video and sound. Just connect your s-video cable to your s-video output ( your laptops quick reference manual should show you where your s-video jack is at ) and the other end to the back of your LCD tv video input ( consult your lcd tv manual )
