Sound like you had grease to get around the control and made start getting error codes ,,,,,, shut off the range and go flip the breaker thats is for it and let it stay off for about 30 minutes and turn back on ,,, reset clock and try the range again ,,, it should work ,,, need to let the range reset itself / larry

Our new home has a GE XL44 gas stove the top works fine but when I use the oven it smokes and sets off the smoke alarms. The stove is over 3 years old Any ideas before I have to call the repairman in?

A gas stove shouldn't smoke. Is is clean? There is some grease that has eluded your cleaning efforts of interior surface?

Here are some tips that may help you resolve this problem:

Check the broiler flame. If the broiler flame is not adjusted properly, you could be creating soot from the burner flame.

Position the items that your are broiling lower so that they do not splatter grease up onto the broiler baffle.

Use a broiler pan that will drain grease and drippings down below the top surface.

Broiling many items will naturally produce some smoke. If you have the oven door closed when broiling then the only place that the smoke can go is up and out of the oven vent. If you partially open the oven door, some of the smoke will come out of the door opening.

You may have residue on the top walls of the inner oven cavity. Do you have self-clean feature on your range to clean the oven? Follow all of the procedures in your owner's manual to properly clean the oven using the self-clean cycle. This may clear out any undetected residue that could be causing excessive smoke during broiling.

My jgsp48soh1ss GE profile is having broiler problems. It goes on but the flame is too low. Won't broil a steak as the flame won't extend over the metal guard.

No promises but id try to get it a good cleaning, some times grease and oil of popping fat pockets may clog your vents for the gas. Also try to find the supply line in and make sure that is is well sealed, with no cracks or breaks. There just may not be enough gas getting to your broiler.
Please note, i am no expert, only doing what i would try and do to fix it. Best of luck

GE JGSP28 Range broiler problem: flame comes out when door opened

The air shutter should be completely open. A possible adjustment may be necessary towards the closed position. The orifice needle at the orifice hood may be too tight. Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and turn the hood counterclockwise to reduce pressure on the needle. Do this with the air shutter completely open. Your flame should reduce in size. The best flame would be about 1 inch long with white tips.
Make the adjustments with the flame off. Then light it and check it. If more adjustment is necessary, turn the broiler off before adjusting.

F10 error on kenmore elite electric built in model 790.4907

Try unplugging the unit from the wall, wait 5 minutes and replug back in. I had same thing happen to me a few months ago. I had to leave my stove/oven unplugged for 24 hours to finally get it to reset itself. It is working fine now.

Propane coversion of kenmore 790 gas range

Most gas stoves are shipped for natural gas .You need to check the orifice on each burner to see if they are for natural gas or propane. If you ordered propane the stove should have been shipped with the orifices. They may be in a bag with your stove documents.
