I just bought this computer and my battery won't charge. I believe it's the AC adapter because I can't even get enough power to run that computer when it's plugged into the wall. Any suggestions?

Mine just all of a sudden shut down and now will not turn on at all. With the power cord plugged in the charge light flashes green.

I have the same exact problem with this computer and just got off with Sony support and they claim no issue. Wow, my heart goes out everyone who has paid more than $1000 for this unit only to fail This is a documented class action suit on this problem (known issue since 1998)

AC Adapter/Charger Good?...DC Jack Good?...Still No Power, No Charge?...With the Battery Out, Power & Battery Lights Blinks Every 7 Seconds?...With Battery In, Battery Light Flashes Every 5-10 Seconds?...And With A Fully Charge Battery In, The Laptop Turns On Just Fine?...If So, You have Just Witnessed 1 of Dell's DEFECTS. It's Best to have it Repaired by a Qualified Tech who knows SMC AND *Are Aware of THIS PROBLEM*. They Will Do What Dell Should Have Done!...Or Get Another Laptop, if you find a USED Board on Ebay, It will SOON DO THE SAME. Make Sure It's A REFURB 1, At Least you know that Problem was TAKEN CARE OF. AND DON'T FORGET TO CONTACT DELL TO REMIND THEM OF THE LAW-SUIT THEY HAD SOME YEARS BACK ON THIS SAME ISSUE.

I think the connector inside the laptop where the power connects is stripped or not making contact and needs to be replaced.
How do I find that part

Try taking the battery out and just use AC adapter for power. Likely the unit is unable to charge battery due to bad connection inside the computer. I have the same problem and doing this allows me to use my system without the battery.

SOURCE: battery not charging

Either of the two reasons. The battery may be dead (most likely, depending on the age of the laptop) or the charger may be faulty. Both is unlikely as both of them could not have conked out simultaneously.

SOURCE: How do I charge the

Initially the battery must be charged fully and then allowed to discharge for about three times.
After this you can charge the PC with the charger connected and work on it while you are on the desk. while using the battery allow it discharge to the lowest level and charge .
You can use the PC with the charger connected while not moving. The battery will charge off in about 2-3 hours. Choose a power plan / power saver plan by clicking the power options on the control panel.

SOURCE: my sensr480 note book battery

Samsung laptops have this program called Battery Life Extender where this would allow you to choose your charging to 100% or 80%. 80% charging as the program says will lessen the ageing of your battery thus extending the overall battery life specially when your using youre laptop connected to AC more often.
I would guess that you might have activated that program if youre only charging at 80%. Have a look at it at youre programs and reply back.

Latop will not boot up

1.Ensure your battery is holding power. Some laptops will auto shut-off if the battery won't hold a charge. In that case, replace your battery and retry. Check your charging lights or indicators to see if your laptop is getting power and charging.

2.Check your AC to DC converter (the little black adapter you plug in your AC outlet.) This converts AC power into DC power. Is it abnormally hot? If so, it is probably burned out. Replace it. Note- high heat is not a true indicator of malfunctioning. It can be dead and cold as well. No power
indicators on your laptop could be a sign of a dead or bad converter also. Converters WILL get hot (this is normal.) If it is REAL hot (to touch), then this is not good.

3.Check your power cord. Are there nicks or cuts? If so, unplugg it from the AC power and repair with electrical tape- better yet, replace it. Many computer salvage stores carry power adapter cords. They're cheap.

4. Check your laptop lid switch. If it is broken, you may have power but your screen may not come on.

This is usually a little button or mechanism located close to the lid hinge that turns on or off your

screen when your lid is open or closed respectively. Normally the operator does not push this button.

These are fragile and broken easily on some laptop models. Sometimes these can be fixed, more often

they will require replacements. If you aren't an expert repair person, get a technician to

repair/replace it for you. Opening up laptops is a very delicate operation and much more difficult to

repair than desktops. It may be worth it to spend the money for repair.

5. If you have tried these easy solutions and it still won't power on, then your problem lies

elswhere. You may have an internal power switch or voltage regulator problem.. Internal problems will

require professional help.

Toshiba satellite l305d-s5934 Won't charge battery dont power On

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Remove the battery and check the voltage on the battery, if low try to JUMP charge, if not replace. Also check the charging voltage with the adaptor connected to the latptop. If there is no voltage then the charger must be checked.
However if the battery and adapter seems good then the mother board is a suspect and it is ideal to get the help of Tosibha service for estimation.

I have a Epc note book and it will take a charge just received i

You say the laptop battery not charge or the Epc can not work with the adapter?

First you try to charge a fine battery with your adapter to confirm the adapter is good or not.

Then use the good adapter to charge your battery to confirm the battery is dead or not.

You should change your adapter or battery.

I would recommend just buying a new battery. Sometimes when the battery gets to old, it stops charging completely. It's not a got idea to take apart your system because you most likely won't be able to put it back together. A new laptop battery typically runs about $125.00. It would be a lot cheaper to just buy it rather then buying a new power supply, which is what you will need to do if you take apart your computer. I know because it's happened to me before.
