Question about Sony VAIO VGN-S460 Notebook
I am trying to help my sister-in-law fix her Sony Vaio. She has had it for about 3-4 years I think. When you turn it on, you get the Sony screen but it won't boot and the hard drive keeps making clicking noises. It then goes to the bios which requires a password. She had no restore disk. Apparently the restore stuff is on a partition on the hard drive and she never made a backup disk. She also has no idea what the bios password is. So I'm stuck. I think the hard drive is probably bad. Does anyone know how to get into the bios and/or get the thing to boot from the DVD drive without getting into the BIOS? I was able to disassemble the computer and remove the hard drive but I found out it's an SATA drive and I don't have an adapter so I can't even test it externally.
Maybe simply buy another SATA HDD to replaced faulty one, which you said it came with "clicking noises".
you also can try hold tee 'C" or "F12" when you power on the laptop to get from DVD booting.
