I usedd my camera one day, and all of a sudden my screen went black. The camera still works tho, and when its really bright outside you can see a little, so im guessing the screen light is just turned on the lowest. I dont know how to turn it back on, and i cant see the options cuz i cant see the menu on the screen. Any help?

I just tried something that I read a few days back tried it then but just tried it again. I held my Canon Power Shot S3 SI Camera Lens up to a Very Bright Light and started Taking Pictures started in TV mode then kept switching modes but taking lots of pictures in the different modes kept checking after taking a few I could start noticing that the screen was getting lighter and lighter with each picture that I took ... and Finely it started looking more and more like a picture.. and now my baby is back working...... thanks to who every the person was that posted about using a light to get her the Death of the Black Screen working... Just a little hint make sure that the light is really bright a flashlight did not work the yesterday for me so today a used a lamp and now me and mt Camera are both doing the Happy Dance .... Hope This May Help Others Who's Cameras Have Been Hit With The BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH....hope this works for you like it did me.:)
It sounds like the light sensor on the camera is malfunctioning. Try cleaning the sensor. If the senor doesn't work at all it will not be able to tell when the camera is operationg in bright light. Kind of like having your eyes dialated and walking outside on a sunny day.
This suggests the back light has failed.
Depends on the age of the camera -if recent purchase and under warranty send it back to the seller.
A reapir I would think for an older camera would be expensive - a new camers is a better bet
I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
