Question about Panasonic PT-53WX53 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
When we try to turn on our tv, it does not power on and the red light flashes five times. The model is PT53WX53G. Can you help us find out the problem? Thank you.
Constant blinking usually infers there is trouble in the jungle ic
chip. If that is so in your set the replacement of the jungle chip is
quite expensive. More than $150. Probably not a wise investment for a
5 year old set.
The "call for service" is another sign the problem is more than minor.
So, without knowing more I think you are going to be better off by taking a trip to Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City or Ultimate Electronics and start looking over the new stuff.
You know, I don't have any personal experience with Durabrand tvs, but I was in Walmart today and playing with the controls on one of their sets. After I got it optimized (in the store they always set them up with maximum color and brightness) it was the best looking picture in the store - even better than Sony. The one I was looking at was only a 20 inch for $89, but I was duly impressed with it. Walmart has a Durabrand 27 inch set for $168, which is a good price if the picture is as good as the 20 incher that I was playing with!! Just a thought.
