Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

Print spooler is not running

When my niece and nephew was on my computer they stopped the printer and jammed it and did not tell me what they did and deleted my printer off my files. I could not find my disc so I could not install back and now I can not get the the computer to see another printer when I install it to get the printer to print. The printer shows up in the files but not in the hardware and printer section. I have tried the add printer section. I have tried help and support sections.

My lexmark p707 has just stopped printing. It keeps cancelling jobs and tells me to reinsert the cartridges (which I have done). But is still not working. Help pls?

It could be due to the Print Spooler on your computer. Please follow steps below to ensure print spooler service is running and print queue is clear from pending print jobs.
  1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)
  2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
  3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)
  4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.
Try to print again.

Choose SYSTEM32

NOTE : You can bypass the C:Drive procedure and just type NET STOP SPOOLER AND NET START SPOOLER in the DOS COMMAND PROMPT if you believe that there are no printing jobs pending.

Another procedure is to download this troubleshooting software and follows the troubleshooter wizard and it will fix your print spooler service automatically and some common problems as well.

Make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the queue. If you're using Windows, go to the Control Panel > Printers > double-click on the Lexmark print object. Delete all print jobs pending. If you can't clear all print jobs, follow the steps below:

Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

Reboot your computer. Then, try to scan again.

My printer is telling me there is a job in the que thats preventing it from printing ...When I run the troubleshooter it tells me its fixed ! But i still see the error msg and the printer will not print

You need to delete all jobs in the print queue, see instructions below:

If you've ever had a print job hang, you're probably familiar with the Windows Print Spooler window. You get to this window simply by selecting the relevant printer from the Control Panel's Printers and Faxes applet (simply Printers in Vista). In the somewhat unusual event of a printer queue jam, you can go to the Print Spooler and simply delete the job. Sometimes, though, the system won't let you cut off print jobs that way: It marks the job "Deleting..." but never quite gets there, and you end up rebooting. But there's an easier way.
Open a command prompt (go to Start ' Run, then type cmd) and type the following, pressing enter after each line:
net stop spooler
del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
net start spooler
In Vista you'll need to open an elevated command prompt by right-clicking on cmd.exe and selecting Run as Administrator. For those of you who remember batch files, use Notepad to save the four commands above as a batch file. I've named mine Killqueue.bat.

HP 5440 printer will not print or test print; no paper jam; disconnected USB cable at both printer and computer; cannot empty print quieu(error oxooooooo5); cartridge track not stuck

I had the same problem.I bought another printer.

Temporarily here is what I did. I used a USB cable that has lights. Whenever the print spooler jammed, the light would not be on. Then go to START, RUN, type in "CMD". This open a DOS window. Type "NET STOP SPOOLER". Wait for it to say it has stopped. Then type "NET START SPOOLER". It will start, then you can close the DOS window.

Unfortunately this helped only half the time. Some times I would reboot, only to have my job print on restart!!!!!

good luck

My printer wont print it has a spooler problem.

To start and stop the print spooler
  1. Open Computer Management.
  2. In the console tree, click Services.
    Where?
    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Services
  3. In the details pane, double-click Print Spooler.
  4. Do one of the following depending on the task you want to do:
Click Stop to stop the service.
Click Start to start the service.
Notes
  • To open Computer Management, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
  • When you stop the Print Spooler service, it might stop other dependent services.
  • The print spooler runs under the Local Computer system account by default.

Once you get here you should be able to restart the print spooling service.

Printer queue jammed

Simply rebooting your computer should fix that. If you have Win2k or XP, you can also open a command prompt and type 'net stop spooler', and when it's done type 'net start spooler'. That stops and restarts the spooler service (which controls the print queue) and may take care of it. But a reboot is easer and more likely to be successful.

Printers vanished and can't add printer

Your shell extensions have a software conflict. The offending piece of software will have to be determined and removed, or at least stopped, before re-booting the computer. You may be able to repair the problem using the System Restore option.
