Question about Video Game Consoles

1 Answer

I'll just quote this as I posted in Nintendo's unresponsive tech forum: "Ok so I've had my DS for some time, never with any sort of liquid around it or spilled on it which is why this confuses me. I played it quite a bit at first, then my schedule got a bit to full to have time to focus on playing so the DS resided in a completely breathable zipped camera bag/hip bag I suppose. The next time I got it out a few months later I noticed there was something strange with the screen. I repair laptops for a living and have seen this with them and have always assumed it to be moisture/condensation behind the lcd. I had read a few forums that said they spilled liquid on one but once they dried it extensively it was fine. So I figured on the off chance it was some kind of moisture, I would allow it to reside out of the bag and made sure the environment was dry. But no avail. I tried a few different ways to try to dry it [short of opening it which I really don't want to resort to] but nothing has worked. I took a picture to show the damage, I didn't use a flash so there'd be no glare plus left it at its original size to retain all the detail I could. Any additional ideas on what this may be or some solution would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance" The bellow address is the picture I took to show the damage http://i35.tinypic.com/2im9rep.jpg

If it's not under warranty anymore than I would say that they will do nothing to help you, short of charging you a larger amount of money then checking at your loacal game store. You will probably need to have them replace the screens. I know at my store we charge $35 dollars to repalce a screen and $10 for the touch screen. It may vary from store to store. You can eaither check around for a place that repairs them or buy the screens at psxboy.com. It's 15 dollars for the screen and about 7 dollars for the touch screen. That is all the help I can be for now.

Why can't I connect my DS Lite to my Wifi?

hi Kevin,
The ds lite uses WEP encryption, you will most probably be using wpa/wpa2 which has alot better security but is not compatible with the ds lite. I think the dsi uses wpa and therefore works. I wouldn't recommend changing your current wifi to wep just to get on the internet with the ds lite.
Hope this helps

I have a nintendo 3DS and I want to know how to use the internet on it. I have the internet wi-fi connections set but when I tap the internet logo on the touch screen on the 3DS a message appears and says...

OK, first of all you'll need an internet connection yourself.
Click the options menu and go to "other" (The orange one). Scroll along until you find "system update". Connect to wi-fi and update the system, DO NOT stop it once it's begun as it could harm your data.
Once the system is up to date, click on the blue globe in the top left of the main menu, et voila.
All you really need to do is update the system, so once you've done that all you need is to be near your wi-fi connection and you'll be fine.
Hope this helps, even if it is a little long winded =P
(NOTE: It won't be able to play videos like on youtube for some reason or other... nothing you can do but wait and see if Nintendo will update browsing capacity...)

I have a R4i card (Revolution for DS - Gold) that worked up until lately and will not work now, but this card will work on another DSI. Any R4 I put in to this DSI comes up with the following error -...

I'm afraid the R4i Gold card is a fake, and if you've updated your console to the latest 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 firmwares it's unlikely to work. Check out R4 DS Revolution Cards at www.r4dsrevolutioncards.com (info site) to differentiate between different versions of R4i cards and make sure you buy a genuine one!

A lot of the fakes will indeed work when you buy them but as soon as you update your console they'll stop working.

Good luck!

I've had this problem before. Try following the directions below. This is what I did and it worked just fine.

Im trying to get wi-fi connection on it and its telling me that "The access points security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds'

That means that the connection you're trying to connect to is probably a WEP-encrypted WiFi source. The Nintendo DS Lite cannot support that format of WiFi, however Nintendo has posted a very detailed and visual step-by-step guide in how to resolve that here
Just scroll down to "My security settings are not supported or are not compatible" and follow the instructions.

Good luck.

I'm trying to play the new Pokemon Black but I want the free promotional Victini and it says I gotta have Wifi and I'm like "Ok..." And I try to connect it to my houses Wifi but this comes up!...

Hey darthbunnyva!

The reason you need a wi-fi to redeem your pokemon is for Nintendo to be able tu check that every code is unique and people are not cheating the system and getting the pokemons they don't own.

To set up your Nintendo DS for online use just follow these official nintendo guides for configuring your wi-fi

Hope this helped!

The Nintendo DS can only connect to 802.11b networks with WEP encryption (see here). Make sure your access point is 802.11b with WEP encryption in order for your Nintendo DS to be able to connect to it. Than you can try connecting it again.
Good luck.
