It suddenly happened. I have my Creative Zen just one year and a half and last time that I tried to turn it on it just did not. I did not smashed it or soaked or anything. I reset it. Cleaned it up, Formated all, and the same message is coming........ Firmware Problem!!!! I have tried it all. I downloaded the Creative Zen Firmware 1.03.04 as the Creative site suggests, but my laptop just dont detect the device at all. Any suggestions????? i was syncing my music from my creative zen to my computer. My computer suddenly did a security update, and now my creative zen just says firmware problem. I have reset it multiple times and i downloaded the recovery thing but it wont detect my player. anybody know how to fix it?

try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.
By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?

I have windows XP sp3 and the same thing is wrong! Can't update the firmware cause it says "player not connected" when it most certainly is connected!
I've had mine for less than a week, and when I was out walking and listening to music it suddenly died, although it was fully charged. When I got back home and plugged it in, the computer says it cannot detect it.
I have the same problem. I received my Creative Zen for Christmas 2007 and have had this mysterious problem before. I returned the original device within 30 days. I had the same problem two months later. I retired it to a junk drawer because the store that sold it to us would not take it back and nothing worked. On a lark, I turned it on Christmas eve 2008 and miraculously it turned on and worked without a problem until this morning. Now its totally black, off, no signal, no lights, nothing. It is undetectable by my computer even though its plugged in, even after shutting down my computer and restarting.
Same problem here, suddenly it died, no one solution provided for the recovery manager works, no format, nor reset, no upgrade firm, no clean up works.
