If dust enters this will occur, try blowing out the memory card socket wita a can of dust blower and see if that takes care of the problem. Also, sometimes memory cards do fail. CF cards have this problem due to all the small pins in the camera that engage the CF memory.
Static electriticity atteacts dust and dust retains the charge like a capacitor and kills memory cards.
