Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
I have a PS2 and have just changed the laser. It was working fine before changing the laser.
I put it all back together and it played games fine but the cd drawer was closing by itself almost immediately after opening - meaning you had to get the cd in quickly.
So I took it apart again to fix the cd drawer problem, but now the laser does not recognise there is a disc in the machine and the disc does therefore not spin.
Any idea what could be causing this?
The laser cable is plugged in fine.

First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.
There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.
