Question about Brother CS-8060 Computerized Sewing Machine

Open Question

Brother star 110 machine. I need to dismantle the outer casing.

In order to remove thread which had wound round the bobbin winder, I undid the screw on the cog(?) which winds the spool. Unfortunately, there was a nut on the screw which dropped in to the machine. I retrieved the nut by unscrewing the base plate but now need to remove the back casing of the machine to get in and re-attach the nut. I cannot seem to prise the moulded plastic (back) section off. Front and back sections appear to 'clip' together. Is there an order for unclipping them?

SOURCE: Unable to wind bobbin on Brother Css-8150 stopped suddenly

Checking to see if in fact that the bobbin shaft is turning. Run it without any bobbin on the bobbin shaft. Make sure that it is push over in the correct position and run it. I checked on mine and it does make the whirring sound and the the shaft does spin. Also check underneath the shaft to see if there is any thread wrapped around it. ( I had problems with that in the past). I hope this helps,

SOURCE: sewing machine has bobbin thread would around winding shaft

If the bobbin is on correctly try crossing the thread before going through the tensioner which should solve this problem and also a more evenly wound bobbin.

SOURCE: I have the Brother SE270D and when I was winding

You can either take the machine in for repairs or, use another sewing machine (if you have one that uses the same type of bobbin) for bobbin winding or purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder - search the Internet for the best price.

Bobbin winder doesnt work

The bobbin winder tires on most of the new lower to medium end brother machines have a tendency to sort of melt. I honestly don't know what causes it, but basically the rubber ring that rides the handwheel and causes the bobbin winder to turn will liquify and drip off the bobbin winder and then re-solidify. It would be best to take your machine to a repair shop, to get the tire replaced and to have the old tire sludge cleaned out, though if you are adventurous, you could try it yourself. You can order a tire at the link I've provided, but most sewing machine repair shops can get you one as well.

Bobbin winder shaft wont spin

If you take it apart, you'll void the remaining warranty. The usual cause is not getting the door open completely and/or thread wrapped around the spindle.

Brother cs-80 winding bobbin makes whirring noise and doesn't wind

Replacing the bobbin winder rubber ring.
  • The case halves are held together by 5 larger screws, one under the carry handle, obvious from the holes in the casing, plus one smaller screw up by the foot-raising lever.
  • There is also the final screw, which is a devil to find. (see 3rd image)You have to remove the plastic tray to which the spool carrier is attached, up by the spool winder. You do not need to remover the spool winder stop but the small screw on the left, in the bottom of the tray-shape.
Next, WITH CARE , lever round the tray with a thin blade and use a small screwdriver to ease it out of the case; there are 2 bits that stick out more than the rest.
  • Once this tray is out you can see a small bar with a screw. (see 2nd image)Remove this screw and the 2 halves of the case will separate.
TAKE CARE NOT TO DROP THE SCREW INTO THE WORKS!. A piece of sticky-tack on the end of the screwdriver helps here if the screwdriver is not magnetized.
  • Now you can carefully ease the ribbon-strip cable from the circuit board and move the case round to be able to access the screws that hold the circuit board. You do not need to pull out the other cables; just take a tad of care as you work.
The bobbin winder mechanism is held in by 1 screw - take this out and you can then easily replace the rubber drive ring -(which you have providently ordered)
  • Take the opportunity to clear out any fluff and dust while you have the cases apart. Put ONE drop of oil in the center of the bobbin carrier rotating mechanism and one drop on any moving joints.
  • Replace the components/ ribbon cable in the reverse order, taking care not to drop the small screw! It is necessary to carefully line-up the hole into which it fits. It is surprising how easily the tray clips back into place, compared with the hassle you had getting it out.
I took both my CS 8080 apart last week to replace the drive rubber. It took nearly 1.5 hours along with the cleaning and lubing.
I am sorry the 3rd image is so small. It shows the screw to remove to access the arrowed screw in the second image

Bobbin winder belt melted

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!

Bobbin winder stop before befor fully wound

Is the bobbin close to full in the middle but not that full above and below? You may need to watch the bobbin wind and give the thread a nudge so that it fills right across the bobbin core to avoid this happening. Most bobbin winders will click off before the bobbin is completely full as you don't want any thread actually touching the bobbin case when it is in position, just fill to about 80% for good tension and stitching.

I have a Freesia 425 - I have wound the bobbin successfully, but the bobbin will not come off the winder - any explanations

The bobbin is probably cracked. They get that way when bobbins are wound in correctly, or to tight. Just break it off and get new bobbins. Just make sure your theading it correctly when winding bobbins.

Threading bobbin on singer stylist 522

To wind a bobbin put the cotton reel on the top pin, take the thread to the left and round the little wheel and back to the bobbin that should be on the winder, wind the thread round a few times to take a grip, release the stop motion in the balance wheel, turn the winder button so the winder moves to the balance wheel and press on the foot control slowly.
When you put the bobbin in the bobbin case make sure it turns anti clockwise.
