Zoom lense wont retract

The problem you are describing is a problem with something in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $73.85 plus your local sales tax. Lense Damage in side

It depends on the nature of the damage. What are the symptoms? For example, does it fail to zoom in and out, does it fail to focus properly, do you see something out of the ordinary when you look through the viewfinder? Have you taken some test pictures? If so, what did the photos look like. If you can give me the specifics, I can probably advise you correctly.

Zoom error

you may be true that sand must be creating this problem, as this happens very often. the sand enters into the lense assembly, creating friction in the movement. if this has happened total dismantelling and cleaning of the lense assembly will solve the problem, but that has to be done by an expert at the repair shop.

When I turn on my Camera, the screen turns blue and say Zoom Error in red writting, and it wont turn on, and the shutter will not shut!

This happens du to friction in the movement of the lense assembly. Did you happen to drop it in sand or on hard surface. If the camera if exposed to sand, just the cleaning of the lense assembly,( gears and the barrels) will solve the problem. But, if any damage is there then the complete lense unit needs replacement.

Won't focus when zooming into the subject

It seems that the lense element which mooves while zooming the camera is stucked. normally this happens when the camera suffers a heavy jery, may be by dropping the camera. Resulting into disalingment of the lense assambly. You will need the help of repair shop to solve the problem.

Zoom Problem

There are two components to a camera lense. One adjusts the final lense distance from the CCD imaging chip the other adjusts the distance between the lenses in the assembly (which zooms the image in and out). It sounds like something inside the lense came loose and when you zoom the lense the focal lense is moving with the rest. The lense will probably have to be replaced if it cannot be taken apart. Odds are something is broken inside anyway. This could be something you might be capable of, I have no way of knowing. If you do not think you are up to the task, have a reputable repair shop do it. Cost should not be excessive. I would think less than $100 US plus the cost of the part. Good luck.
