Hi good day. I have a msi u100 laptop. Xp os. My problem is that it only charge up to 96% and after that the battery indicator flashes orange. Then sometime it shut down as if it was un plug to power...

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Battery gets to 8% or so, I plug it in, it says it's charging but warning keeps flashing, screen dims off and on and then it shuts off. Charges fine when it's off. Seemed to work fine before.

Sony vaio laptop shutting down while plugged in

If it's left on for a period of time, specified by the power settings, it will dim the display, Hibernate, Sleep, etc. In the Control Panel, Power settings, Advanced Power setting , Change to High Preformance, adjust Hibernate and Sleep to Never, adjust advanced power setting to your specs. Shut down and unplug laptop , remove battery, when not in use, if you use on AC most of the time remove battery.

Battery won't fully charge. Max charge seems to be slowly going down. First noticed charging light coming on intermittently but battery only reached about 93%. 4 days later and the max charging seems to...

It seems that the issues is with the battery itself, not the cppu.

To double check, you can do the following:

1. Disconnect adapter and run battery completely dead.
2. Reconnect adapter and let charge for at leasst 12 hours OR until battery displays 100% charge.

If it still won't charge to 100%, then you know for sure the battery is defective/worn out..
If you want to know more about this, look on wikipedia for: "Laptop Battery Lifespan" or "Laptop Battery Memory Charging".

But I'd say it's safe to assume that it's time for a new replacement battery for your Notebook PC.

Hope this helps!

Display Screen Went Dark...

This would seem like the power supply is broken and the computer is working off the battery or the setting need to be changed in power management. Whenever you disconnect the power supply and work form the battery, as power saving mode, windows will dim the back light to the display. First check if the power supply is charging the battery and then check your settings in the following: Start menu -  Programs - IBM - Battery MaxiMiser Wizard. Follow the steps until you get to the LDC display level. You may need to increase that.

Battery appears charged, but computer will only run when plugged in

does your battery have one of those charge indicator panels on bottom?

also, it's possible that the connection from battery to the internals is shot..if that's the case, then you're looking at a major motherboard swap
