Not starting can be a door switch problem. Maybe when you removed the cover, something came unplugged. Flame suddenly stopping can be a sooted or dusty flame sensor. They do go bad, too. See if it can be bypassed for a test ONLY.

Dryer won't heat up and light bulb turns on then off when door is opened.

Does the drum spin when you shut the door and start the dryer if so it wouldn't be a bad door switch. 1st. thing I would check would be the igniter with front kick panel off dryer it's located at the bottom right hand outer side of drum in the burner duct. here's how you check it with door shut start dryer and look for a orange glow from the igniter if no glow it's a bad igniter if it's not the igniter it could be a thermostat or a flame switch check these things if need more help I'll be glad to help.

I have an Amana Designer Series Gas Dryer. It worked fine for more than 10 years. Suddenly, yesterday it still ran, but there was no heat. I opened the bottom panel while it was running, and...

Motor runs, but main burner will not ignite
1.heat switch set wrong---correct switch setting
2.defective timer or timer circuit---check timer wiring--replace timer motor or switch as needed
3.defective centrifugal switch in motor---clean switch or replace as needed
4.gas supply valve closed----open gas valve
5.inoperative solenoid coil---test coil for open circuit & the voltage to it
???
Pilot burner goes out
1.insufficient gas supply---- low gas pressure or clogged pilot filter or partially closed gas valve
2.carbon deposit on thermocouple tube---clean tube & check pilot burner for proper combustion
3.improperly adjusted pilot flame--adjust pilot flame until faint yellow tip begins to appear
4.faulty ignition or reset valve or thermocouple---replace

Burner ignites and runs for for several minutes (normal), my or may not reignite later. Unsure if it is not calling for heat or not reigniting. Vent is clean as a whistle. Normally use sensor dry vs timed...

Hello,

Depending on your brand and model down on the bottom of the front panel is a piece you can take off and look in and see the burner asm. If at first you see the glow of the igniter, followed by a flame then once the flame cuts off a few minutes later the igniter glows but no flame, the coils that open the gas valve wont open to allow gas flow when they are warm, and need to be replaced.

There is no heat on any of the cycles.

Check Igniter, Igniter Sensor (Senses Igniter is glowing) & gas valve Coils. Remove Front or rear access panel to observe/access these items. Set heated dry cycle & start dryer while observing Igniter, should start to glow bright orange for several seconds, sensor should send millivolt power to valve coils that will CLICK opening valve producing blue flame for heat. If Igniter doesn't glow within a minute, its bad, If it glows & nothing else happens it's either Sensor or Coils are bad, check the coils by using Ohm meter across plug ends of coils, if bad you will get no reading on meter, coil is open & no good, or take both Sensor & Coils to repair shop and have them tested. All 3 are accessable thru access panel opening.

Sg7800 maytag dryer stopped giving heat

Sounds like burner not igniting. On front of dryer in the lower right there should be a gas valve/burner access panel. Usually you just have to pry out at bottom of panel & swing out and up to remove. This gives you access to valve coils and igniter. With panel removed set timer for heated dry and start dryer, observing first the igniter which should glow bright orange-red, then after a couple seconds you should hear a "Click" which is gas valve opening and a blue flame ignites for heat. If no glow is seen after a few seconds or at least a minute, igniter is bad, if it does glow and no click is heard from the gas valve, the coils (electro magnets) on the valve are bad, or the "Flame present" sensor is bad. Chances are it's either the coils or igniter.Try this on all heat settings, if you get heat at only one setting it might be in timer contacts, but not common. Again you can repair/replace both the igniter (usually just plugs into a receptical) and the coils (2 donut looking objects on the gas valve, replace both.) Access door may be on back if not on front, but normally their on lower right of front.

Dryer will not heat

Check the reset inside the dryer. You will need to open the machine. The part looks like this one. If this is ok, then check the heater element for continuity with a multimeter. If you need the heater element, here is a link to the part.

The dryer runs but it will not heat up and dry clothes. This is a gas dryer.

Hello

When the dryer wont heat up and dry clothes it means that the thermostat is bad and needs replacement. This part is located on the blower wheel housing inside the duct, please get back to me if you have any other questions.

When the dryer is cold the heater flame will

The heating circuit is working perfectly except for the solenoid coils as indicated by the occasional glowing of the igniter but no gas is ignited. A gas valve closes as the solenoid coil weakens as it gets hot and does not open until it has cooled down. Replace both gas valve solenoid coils to get the dryer back into proper operation. The solenoid coils are part numbers 694539 and 694540 but also can be purchased as a kit here.

Gas dryer is not heating

you have many things that could be wrong with it

on the front panel, you will see a cap, pop it off, an turn the dryer on, an look tru the hole, the machine will start running, you should see the igniter glow, then the gas valve will open an then the flame will come out...

if you see flame..... an shuts off.....you might a block vent... take it off clean it an try it again...
if it doesnt fix the problem.....then you might have bad coils... if you are not handy, call a service tech

if you see no flame.....then check continuty on the thermal fuse, located on the back of the dryer, you have to remove like 12 screws to find it,,test it and if it doesn't pass power tru it replace it.......if the thermal fuse checks ok, then you have a bad igniter or gas valve, but most common problems i find are thermal fuses and block vents good luck post some feed back...........!
