Chain saw died, no spark. replaced the magneto, still have no spark. gaped it with a .010 brass feeler gauge. disconnected the grounding wires. could it be possible to have 2 bad magnetos. Repalcement part...

Hi, gap should be 8 thou. Try this with a new plug. Check the magnets on the flywheel. It is possible to have a faulty new magneto but not that likely. Also check that the sparkplug terminal is contacting through the high tension lead correctly. Regards Phil.

I have a Poulan Pro 295 20 " chain saw that wont start. No spark from plug.Think the magneto is bad. Model no.952-051310 . Need opinion and part no. Thanks.

Do a basic test first, remove the top cover, pull the earth cut out wire from the terminal on the ignition unit ( this will iliminate any problems with the switch, or wires ) now try for a spark, remember that they work off speed of rotation so give it a good pull, make sure you use a good clean plug, well earthed against the cylinder. If there is still no spark, you will need to replace the unit, part no. 530039143

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode. HTH

Starts but when throttled it dies. Will idle all day at idle.

It may be a faulty coil, but if you haven't tried it yet, I would be inclined to play with the settings of the plug.
Maybe a combination of adjusting the plug, and the gap between the contact and the magneto. If that doesn't do it, change the 'cheaper' contact first.
If problems Still persist, you may have to change the magneto.
Good luck with that, hope I've helped you.
Don't forget to rate ;) thanks

I have a Husqvarna 240 Chain saw. It hasn't been used that much. It is very difficult to start. When running it is a great saw. Runs well under power, nice saw for limbing. The book says to adjust carb use...

Before you adjust the screw, try either, opening or closing the gap on the plug. This will adjust the timing, ever so slightly.
The other choice is to adjust the space betwen the contact, and the magneto.
It is very rare indeed, that the screws on the carb require adjustment.
That should sort it out.
