Yes. That's my main question. I can't for the life of me find a way to replace the batteries. I may return it tomorrow. Just bought it today.

    Any suggestions? email me: amcatanzaro@yahoo.com

I have same issue, mine worked for about 3 months. I've changed the batteries, still no good. It just stopped working. The red L.E.D light is working on mouse, and when i check the mouse config, my computer says everything is running fine with the mouse, how ever under device tab i can't seem to get it as an option. It only shows my laptop touch pad.

I just bought this mouse and plugged in the receiver and it doesn't work. What could be the problem? I went to HP's website and thought I had to download a device driver for the mouse but that didn't seem to work either. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

    Thanks.

Try changing the batteries or charging if it is rechargeable or try re-syncing using the syn button.

To solve this you need to remove the 'memory card' look-alike, and place it into the correct slized slot (which is generally situaed at the side of your HP Netbook.) A light at the bottom of your mouse will go red; to show it's connected. I have got this far, but unfortunately my Netbook is not recognising the mouse, and will not let me set it as my default - which I think is a problem with Windows 7, which is installed on my netbook. Good Luck!! :)

On the adapter there is a small red button. This button must be pushed, then the red button on the bottom of the mouse must be pushed. The mouse light should blink and you should be able to use it.

Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, and press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. Also check to see if there is a button on the reciever, you would have to press that first.

HP 3 button optical wireless mouse

It is normal because the mouse is still picking up the "stand by" power of the motherboard.
It will very very slowly trickle away any charge you have in the laptop battery, but over such a long time you would probably not notice.
The mice on my desktop machines do the same thing, as I live in an area prone to electrical surges I shut down my machines and power strips every night and as soon as I do the laser light in the mouse goes out.
On my laptop I have a wireless optical mouse and when I finish using it, I remove the USB adapter, the USB adapter then slides into a receptical in the mouse and automatically switches the mouse off saving the mouse battery.
If it concerns you just unplug the mouse when it's not in use
