I need instructions on how to replace a new set of power planer blades for Makita 3 1/4 inch power planer

find your model number and go to "makitause.com" and you can download the operators manual with detailed instructions for this repair. REMEMBER to unplug tool before starting. If you give me the model number I will help but they had 2 different types of holders on the planers so I can't begin to help. Let me know.

How to fit bosch PHO 15-82 planer blades

  1. Unplug from mains and turn planer upside down.
  2. Using Allen key (stored in heel of planer) slacken off the 2 sets of 3 screws that clamp the blade in place. One 360 degree turn should be enough
  3. Use piece of wood or flat screwdriver blade to slide old blade out the side of the blade track.
  4. Rake any dirt out of the blade track with screwdriver blade.
  5. Slide in new blades, check it is correctly centred and tighten screws. Take care not to over-tighten.
  6. Repeat with second blade.
  7. Carefully rotate blade carrier by hand checking that blades are parallel to the sole of the plane.
  8. If blades are out of true you will need to remove them again, take off the blade clamping plates and adjust the blade locating plate, which is held in place by 2 further Allen screws.

Ryobi AP12 Thickness Planer---rubber feed rollers do not rotate

It is fixable if you are technically competent. All parts are still available online. It could be one of two problems:

1 - The rollers are driven by two gear & chain mechanisms on the height adjuster side of the unit. I did have a drive chain break once.

2 - If it isn't that than the gearbox has cracked / gear stripped under the torque load. This is also fixable, each individual gear and the gearbox housing are still available (10-09), but it requires substaintial teardown.

As you disassemble the unit just be careful once you remove the crossover height adjuster shaft - you don't want to turn one lifter by itself and have the planer higher on one side. It really is a simple teardown, just lots of parts. If you like the planer it is worth it; parts are cheap. If you are like me, you enjoy tearing stuff down to see how it's made and you hate throwing out $200 tools because only one little part broke!

I have a DeWalt DW733 and I need instructions on how to change the knife blades. Is there a jig or something to set up the blades.

Are the blades turnover knives? If they are the easiest way to do it is to adjust the planer bed or seat to omm planing depth. then take either an adjustable (combination) square or steel rule, and hold the edge of it along the bed or seat and adjust the allen (Hex) screws so that the edge of the knife allows a piece of a4 paper to pass between it and the rule tightly. Do this both sides of the knives and you are done.
