Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

I am trying to attach some photos to an email attachment but each picture has 15megabytes and my file size limit is 20mg. Is there a way to compress or change to file so that it is smaller? I tried putting it in a zip file but it didn't make it much smaller.

There is a file limit size so zip them up prior also some POP and SMTP block ZIP and RAR files so rename the file extension to archive.XXX and ask the recipient to change in on download

I have downloaded and uploaded my photos but don't know how to send them to friends and family via email.

Select a file or files to highlight them...right-click and choose e-mail. A box will open giving you a choice to select other sizes. Do so, and then your e-mail will open with the pictures attached.

I want to attach digital pictures to send along with email messages but the picture files are too large. How can I rectify this issue?

What format are they stored in. I would have thought those stored in .JPG format would be ok to attach.

1) Check format of each picture, if necessary convert to .jpg or JPEG format. Most photo editing software will allow you to do this.

2) If already in .JPG format then reduce the size of photo's using photo editing software.

3) Limit the number of pictures you attach, I'd keep my emails to a max of about 5-6 Mhz. (3 pictures)

How do i attach a video from my camcorder to an e-mail

first make sure your video is in a low resolution mode .. full resolution videos tend to be huge files .. not suitable for internet .. i usually just burn a CD or DVD and send such files to the person .. or if you do it often you can exchange Jump drives with the video included .. if you have a reasonably small video, you can attach to your email by doing the following .. in outlook express .. "create" a new message select the message area of your email (enter your message) click on "insert" . .. then "file attachment" .. then choose the video you want to send ..
your ISP may limit the size you can send or the person you are sending it to may have a limitation.. if your file is smaller than that limitation then it will be delivered ..
in "FireFox" you would select the message area then "File" ... then "Attach" then "file(s)" now locate your video and send ..
you can locate your video in the camcorder or you can first copy it to the hard drive and send from there ..

Emailing videos/movies

you should have a photo editting program on your computer.  Windows comes with 'Paint' that will work nicely.  You need to RESIZE the pictures before sending them via e-mail.

Open the photo program, find 'resize' option, then 'save as' a new file name.

It's poor etiquette to send HUGE pics as attachments. Your friends will appreciate a nice size photo that fits the monitor.

Go to www.onthegosoft.com Download 'shrinkpic' This is a TSR program[terminate and stay resident] It runs in the background all the time. When you click a pic to attach- Shrink pic grabs it copies it and reduces it to send. The program is configurable with regard the optimum size and it has a built in 'How-to' movie. And it is FREE

How do I make an image file smaller so I can send it by e-mail?

To make an image file smaller for e-mail transmission, change the image file size in "Exif Viewer" or "FinePixViewer". Changing the size of an image file 1. Start up the Viewer and select the folder containing the image you wish to send. 2. Double-click the thumbnail for the image file you want to resize to open the image in its own full-size window. 3. Select "Image size" in the "Image" menu. 4. Set "%" as the "Unit" used for file size display. Then enter a value lower than 100 as the "Width" or "Height" and click the [OK] button. 5. Select "Save as" in the "File" menu to save the image. (You can also reduce the image file size by lowering the quality in "Save as type".)
