Re: will not read 05 games will read the old blue &...
Your laser probably has to be adjusted. You will need a multimeter, a small flathead screwdriver, and a little skill. First take out the laser from the Playstation. Then with the multimeter test the potentiometers on the laser using the resistance (Ohm) setting. Thye look like little circles with a small line through them. There whould be 2 of them. The idea of this is to turn the potentiometer on each one UP 10 percent. So, if it says 1.20, you want to make it say 1.32. After you do that to both of the potentiometers, reassemble the Playstation, and hope to God it worked. If not, I would check at your loacal game stores to see if they do console repairs.

Dude I have this same problem!! Ever since the first time I loaded Madden 11 content, I've had nothing but problems. I thought I fried my console because nothing would load up, kept getting frozen. Only after I ripped out all saved Madden content was I able to play any of my games. WTF!! 60 bucks for what??
I had that problem with Madden 09.
I read on the internet that the older PS2 slimlines freeze
after Madden 06-07.
I bought a used satin silver SCPH 77001, a 2007 model I think,
and no more frezzing. plus this thing plays
all DVDs. not just some of them.
sounds like the laser's stuffed. the lasers in those machines are notoriously bad. you'd best be careful. a dodgy laser will cause laser-burn to the discs. i had the same thing on my machine. i could play a couple of games, then there was some that would work after i took them out and put them in, several times. after fixing the laser, ive not had the problem again.
Hmm.... I encountered this once. Check the disc and check for scratches. Then, use a dry soft cloth (must not be wet at all) and rub it around the disc but don't rub the center of the disc. If this doesn't work swap the game. I mean give the Madden with the problem to EB Games or Gamestop and swap it for a brand new one. It should work fine.
This can sometimes be caused by the actual PS2 media. PS2 discs usually have either a silver or blue bottom. Silver is DVD media and Blue is CD media. Sometimes the laser mechanism gets a little wonky and can't read one type or another. Typically, older games had the blue discs (Kinetica and Gran Turismo are some of the oldest games on the system) I would check the color of your existing games and see if that is an issue.
Another possible idea is that you just got a bad disc, it doesn't happen very often but it does pop up from time to time.
Is this problem ocurring only with this game or with any game??
If your answer to the first question is yes, try cleaning the disc and try again.
If there is a problem with all of your games, the best way to resolve the issues is to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX for trouble shooting.
