If the gun has never been opened, the problem could be a lack of oil or worse, too much of the wrong kind of oil. No oil causes parts to stick. Too much of the wrong kind of oil caused the orings to swell and jamb parts. Carefully open gun to preserve head gasket and check for piston travel all the way down to the bumper. Piston should not be too tight, nor drop to the bottom under its own weight. The driver has a groove on one side that should align with the grove in the nose and it should not be bent. Next check the head valve by pushing the valve into the head with your thumbs. the valve should travel about 3/8 inch. If stuck apply air pressure to hole where gasket sits on head. The valve will pop out. Clean and lube parts replace orings or upper bumper if cracked. Assemble and test. Parts are not expensive at www.toolpartsdirect.com, enjoy

I have a ns100a porter cable narrow crown stapler. The driver will not retract, so it will not shoot staples. what can be the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks Pam

Usually when the driver is slightly bent, it will not retract. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder and driver together. Adjust the driver or replace as needed.

I have an older Fasco stapler, it is orange in color. S3G 16 is number on it. The part that pushes out the staple has a piece of staple stuck in it. How can I get this out?

Some models have small screws on the face plate that can be unscrewed to release pressure or a spring clip to release. You can also push the plunger back into stapler with a thin narrow srewdriver, the staple may fall out.

MY SEARS 9.6 VOLT NARROW CROWN STAPLER WILL FIRE ONE TIME OR TWO, THEN QUIT. IF I PULL THE BATTERY BACK FROM ITS LOCKED POSITION ABOUT 1/4" IT WILL FIRE EVERY TIME. GOT ANY IDEAS? I LIKE THIS STAPLER...

The terminals on the battery or on the stapler must be damaged (bent or corroded). It's probably the stapler if the battery charges fine. Does it do the same thing with another battery, or just one? Assuming it's the stapler, and you don't want to mess around with the terminals you could tape a spacer on the stapler to keep the battery 1/4 inch out. You would probably have to tape the battery in place though. If the problem is corroded terminals, I have found that a little wire brush attachment in a Dremel works great. Not a brush like a disc, but a brush that looks like the kind used for paint stenciling.
