SOURCE: How do you wire a dayton electric unit heater?

red, white, and black will be your high voltage. Green will probably be for ground and yellow and orange go to the thermostat. I can confirm on Monday when I have access to manuals.

Sounds like it has a bad fan switch wich is no more than a small circular bi-metal switch that expands when heated closing a switch. Get a parts breakdown off the net. I am sure you could find the switch in your area and replace it yourself.

The dayton furnace kicks on but only for a few seconds. then it stops....I've noticed a red LED light blinking...Whats this? Can it be repaired by me? Or whats the cost to have someone come out and fix...

Hello,
The red LED light is blinking a code. To tell what the code is you need to concult the owner's manual in the troubleshooting section. There it will tell you what the series of blinks means.
The problem could be anything from a bad part to just having to reset a limit switch. If you do decide to have someone come out to service the unit, it is best to have the manual so they can tell what is wrong quickly.
How much it will cost will depend on your location. Some areas of the country are much higher then others, so I really can't venture a guess on that one.
The "Dayton" brand is sold by Grainger a large supply house type company. You can find information on them by going to www.grainger.com They have a parts division that handles parts for their own equipment as well as many other brands.
You also can call them for parts at 1-800-323-0620
Be sure to have the model number and serial number of the unit available when you call, that will be the frist thing they ask you.

Comment back if you have any other questions!
