Increase download speed

I think the problem is in your device. To increase your internet speed
>You can use latest version of Firefox,or Google chrome or Opera browser. These are good browsers.
>Reset your modem and router or unplug them and replug it or switch off the modem and switch on it again daily twice.
>Try to avoid many downloads simultaneously.
>While watching videos online like Metacafe or you tube you can wait until the video buffers and then watch it.Avoid downloading while watching videos.
>You internet security software it helps to protect the PC or laptop from internet threats .If these will affect your PC or Laptop ,the system speed will get reduce. So browsers get crashes again and again, you cannot browse fast.
>You can use necessary addons only in Firefox.
>Clear cookies and browsing history in browsers daily.
Follow these steps it will helps to increase your dial up or any internet connection speed.
But your internet plan also need to be good.If you are using very slow speed connection, you can contact your ISP and upgrade your plan.Even after followed these steps your internet speed slow means you can contact your ISP and inform the problem. They will fix this.To check internet uploading and downloading speed i would suggest the site Scanmyspeed.com here you can check speed in Mbps and MBps.

Wireless Router connection slow... need best settings for faster wifi.

WiFi is Wi Fi and the speed is the system---try getting the router close and check the speed of the service with a computer (free). If you are paying for service a call to your provider might be helpful.

Slow Cpu speed

Check in the BIOS to see what processor is rated at (upon power-up of laptop hit F2 key to enter setup menu). Depending on what model Centrino you have, the speed rating should be at around 1.2 GHz or better. If speed checks out in the BIOS then run diagnostics on laptop to see if the motherbrd has a bottleneck issue. To do this, hold down the <FN> key and then push the power on button. Problem could be either your processor or motherbrd.

Installed new ram and now processor speed is 1/2 of what is was?

Hello Brian -

Is the new RAM you installed the same as what you took out? Are they both PC2700?

Is your laptop running on battery when you're testing to make sure you CPU speed is accurate? The laptop usually ramps down the CPU speed if it is being run off of just battery. Plug it in if this was the case.

Also, the Gateway and eMachines laptops I have encountered have all been notorious for displaying the incorrect CPU speed at times.

I would suggest putting your new RAM in, make sure the laptop is plugged in, and boot it up. This time, let it idle for about 10 minutes and then check your CPU speed to see if it has updated correctly.
