This should help. When the hourglass symbol stays on, press and hold down the start button for at least 15 seconds. The screen should clear and then you can navigate back to the correct opening screen and select music, videos, photos etc. as you require.

left craig mp3/video player model cmp616f on while disconnected from computer over night. connected to computer next day seen hour glaas 2 or 3 seconds then craig blue screen . it connected to computer and stated charging again seems to have reset its noon now dec 28 2009 ill post again results when fully charged and try to use.
I have a Craig CMP616F MP3 player. In "Set Up", After I set the "online mode" to "Media Device" from "USB Disk", it was working ok until I loaded Apple iTunes. When Apple iTunes attempted to load, it crashed! Flashing start up screen, blue with Hour Glass, then blank out, attempt to restart and the same thing, blue screen with hour glass. There is no known reset proceedure at this time, I started it, let it run and recycle endlessly until the batteries expired. Not recommended, because of battery life, but this did reset this model. Success! A drastic step for the irrecoverable MP3. When I used a standard charger 110v Ac to USB (wall current) it started up, no lost files! Lucky, maybe, I hope this will work for you if you haven't thought of it.
I have had 3 try this turn off your mp4 player and recharge it for 6 or maor hours so it fully charged.
Then with it switched off get at good hair dryer and heat for one minute untill its very hot but dont melt it. then switch it on have your computor ready to back up your MP4 player and also remove MEMORY HACK search the net its simple to do and takes the stress for the small cpu witch is why it froze DO NOT SWITCH OFF the player use only centre button to do this and it will come on again.
hope this helps
