2005 Ford F150 4.6 litre starts and then stalls after a few seconds. She will run continiously when the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor is disconnected. If i reconnect the sensor while the truck is running she will automatically shut off. The FPCM doesn't show any sign of corrosion. Could this be the fuel pump or something else?

Check fuel pressure with external sensor and compare to numbers on scanner in data mode. Suspect sensor is bad.

SOURCE: truck stalled out while driving will not start

Not sure about your truck older Fords have 2 fuel pumps 1 in the tank & 1 under cab drivers side. Anytime you change a pump you must change your filter. also check your fuel line if it has been pinched or has a leak pressure will drop

Shuts off while driving but starts up

Sounds like it's not getting fuel. Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. If low, make sure the pump is running. If the pump is running, but no pressure at the rail, check fuel, filter. Get back to us with result of these checks.

Code PO 193

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit high input.
1. Unplug the negative battery terminal connector (black one, NOT red) from the battery and set aside. Doing this will also reset your check engine light as well.

2. Unplug the fuel pump fuse. Check owners manual for proper location in underhood fuse block.

3. Start vehicle and run it until it dies to relieve pressure.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the sensor on fuel rail.

5. Remove bolts to fuel rail pressure sensor.

6. Disconnect hose on back of Pressure Sensor.

7. Once everything is disconnected, pull straight up on sensor. Be sure to pull up with a little effort, it has a snug fit. Of note, you will see gasoline when you lift up the FRPS so be careful so as not to let debris fall in there.

8. Install new FRPS and reconnect hose and electrical connector.

9. Put the fuel pump fuse back in.

10. Reconnect negative battery terminal.

11. BEFORE YOU START THE VEHICLE, you need to prime it. Do this by cycling the key to the ON position and Off position several times for the fuel pressure to build back up . Do this 2-3 times then start your vehicle.
CHECK FOR LEAKS, TEST DRIVE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES OR SO AND BE SURE EVERYTHING IS OK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT RETURN.

Cuts out when running fine. wont start again and gives the symptoms that the car has run out of fuel. it then eventually starts. its as if the fuel needs to be drawn up.

sounds like you have a defective fuel pump (inside the fuel tank). you would need to put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail & monitor the pressure when it stalls. to verify its a fuel problem, disconnect, and spray some starting fluid into the air induction hose. if it starts for a few seconds..its a fuel problem
