Connect the cable to the VCR cable input. Connect the small cable provided with the VCR from the cable output on the VCR to the cable input on your TV.

The VCR will most likely work on channel 3 or 4, so put your TV on channel 3 and see if your VCR remote will change channels, if not try channel 4. (your owners manual should tell you which channel to use).

Make sure that the VCR display says VCR and not DVD. If it says DVD, use the remote DVD/VCR button to change it back to VCR.

Press the Setup button and enter the time and date. Refer to the manual to see how to set up the unit to automaticly record your programs for you.

If you want to record now, insert a blank tape, change to the channel you want and press record. Then press the TV/VCR button so you can watch different channels while the VCR is recording your program.

When finished recording, put the unit back on channel 3 or 4 (which ever your machine uses) and press the TV/VCR button to activate the VCR. Press stop, rewind and play to start watching your recording.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)

Dish Pro record code for Mag combo

ZNREL, I've done this with Dish Pro before. Setup the Dish remote to control the Mag combo in the VCR position. Press the SAT button and select the guide. Go to the program in the guide and select it. The "record this program" routine should pop up, set it up. Here's the key, make sure the Dish remote has the VCR button selected and that the remote is placed where it can "see" the Mag combo. At the set time, the Dish remote will change the DishPro to the proper channel and then issue s "record" command via infrared to the Mag combo to start recording. DishNet has all of the device codes to their remotes downloadable from their site.
