My wireless internet is not working. it says theres no wireless device when i press the button to turn it on or off

    If you'e pressing a button to turn on/off, it sounds like a laptop / notebook to me.



    Desktop PCs don't use "Buttons".



    Check your wireless card - make sure it hasn't popped loose from the connector.



    Check Device Manager and network connections to see if it's actually installed, and enabled.



    Reload Drivers if needed.



    Replace Wireless NIC (card) if it's defective

Internet connection


That model isn't a Desktop, it's a laptop. If you're attempting to connect wirelessly, there's a wireless button, identified by an icon that looks like a tower with radio waves emanating from it. It's usually above the keyboard, and it has a blue light that indicates that wireless power is on. If the light is amber, the power is off.

Even when on, you have to use the icon in the notification area to select a wireless source, and maybe enter a numeric key or password. But on newer routers, you press a WPS button to automatically allow the device to connect.

Enable a Mouse for a Laptop
Without the ability to drag and drop and point and click, a laptop computer is merely a desk ornament.
Most laptops are manufactured with a built-in mouse in the form of a touchpad.
If the touchpad fails or if you just prefer working with a mouse, it is easy to enable a mouse for use with your laptop.

Purchase a mouse that is compatible with your laptop.
You can find compatibility information on the manufacturer's website.
If the mouse is wireless, make sure that the USB receiver is included, or purchase it separately. The mouse will not function without the receiver.
Insert the batteries in the mouse if you are installing a wireless mouse.
The battery compartment is generally located on the bottom of the mouse.


Connect the USB mouse to the USB port on the computer.
If you are using a wireless mouse, connect the USB wireless receiver to the USB port.

Turn the computer off and then on again if you are enabling a standard mouse with a wire.
This will instruct the computer to run the "new hardware" wizard, which will walk you through the installation of the mouse, and your mouse will be enabled.

Turn the wireless mouse over, and locate a small indentation with a button.
You may need to use the tip of a pencil or pen to depress this button.
Simultaneously press the button on the mouse and the small button on the USB receiver.
This will initiate communication between the mouse and the receiver.
Hold the buttons down for about 5 to 10 seconds until the light on the mouse comes on.

Test the connection by moving the mouse.
If the cursor moves, you have successfully enabled the mouse.
If not, check that you have the batteries installed.
Try pressing the buttons independently of one another.
Press the button on the receiver until the light blinks and release it.
Press the button on the bottom of the mouse until the light on the mouse is lit.
This should enable your wireless mouse.

I cannot connect to the internet


Which operating system ?
Click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer this may vary depending on what operating system you have
extend the events there you will see errors in red you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured
Right click on the error message select properties you will see all details about the error
or click start type in event viewer press ENTER
you might be able work your way through the problem

The usual procedure is to plug the wireless adapter into an available USB port.
Windows will install the appropriate driver.
After your PC recognizes the wireless adapter, select the "Connections" icon in the taskbar (represented by vertical bars).

If you are prompted for a password, enter the appropriate password.
Click "Connect."
You are subsequently connected to a wireless network.
Launch your browser and enjoy surfing the Internet wirelessly.

Click on the "Start" menu and selecting "Control Panel."Click on the icon that reads "hardware and Sound." Then, select the tab that reads "Bluetooth Devices." Click on the "Add" button. This will put your computer in "Search Mode." This means that it will search for any compatible Bluetooth devices in the area. Put your Bluetooth device in "Discovery Mode." This can be done by pressing and holding the button on the side of the device. This will cause the device to send out a signal that will be received by the laptop computer.
Select your device from the list of found devices on your laptop. Once this is done, your laptop and Bluetooth device will be permanently connected as long as they are both turned on.

I CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ..using Linksy wireless remote


the wireless card installed to your computer is working..as you said you can view all wireless networks...your computer is good too...the only issue is you cant connect to the wireless router...

turn off and unplug the power cable of the Modem
turn off and unplug the power cable the router

wait for 30 seconds
plug in and turn on the modem, wait for all the light turn to solid green ( no blinking lights )

then power on the router

if you saw the wireless icon light turn solid...

go to your computer...right click the wireless icon...select repair

if this doesnt work....reset your internet router by press and hold the reset button behind the router near the power plug (atleast 15 sec)

then connect your PC..the wireless network dont have the WEP key anymore because of the reset..you can reconfigure and put back the WEP key when you get connected.

does the non working wireless card still show up in the device manager?
if so does it show up as installed or with error?

if not is it enabled in the bios?

Also i have seen people accidently turn off the internal wireless card by pressing the little button on the laptop without realizing it or on some laptops the internal card can be turned on and off with function key combination..

On some models when you turn off the internal wireless card with the litttle switch the card will still show up in the device manager as installed and look ok but will not find any networks at all...
and right clicking on the icon and selecting enable radio does nothing untill you phisically turn it on with the little switch

there should be some sort of light or indicator somewhere on the laptop that lights up when the wireless is on..

what model HP laptop do you have?

I just reformatted my V4000 hp laptop, and am trying to set up my wireless. I tried to turn on my internal wireless card by pressing the wireless button, but nothing has happened. What can I do?


hi, as you came online, findout the name of the device from the device manager and search the driver in the net. down load the driver, place it on a folder and go for update the driver from device manager, show the folder, to install it from there.

if not worked let me know

How to get hp wireless assistance


If you need to find the Wireless Utility to scan for available networks, it should be in Start > Programs under HP Wireless

If you need to turn your wireless adapter on:

First, check to see if there is a button on the keyboard that looks like an antenna. It usually hasF a blue light on if it is enabled. If not, press it. If you are using Windows XP Click Start, then select Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet Connections. The Network and Internet Connections
Click window opens. Network Connections. The Network Connections window opens.
Right-click Wireless Network Connection.
Select Enable to turn on wireless Ethernet or Disable to turn off wireless Ethernet.
