Windows XP needs at least 1GB to run acceptable. What kind of memory you need to buy depends on your motherboard. Read the motherboard's manual or bring your computer to a computer shop to identify the memory.

Hello,

As far as cleaning up the operating system, it sounds like you have already done mostly everything. I do have a completely free program that would take care of the last two things, system junk files, and registry errors.

Other than that, the one thing which would help the most is adding more memory to your PC. Would not cost much and is the easiest piece of hardware to install. Takes less than 5 minutes to do.

Thank you for choosing Fixya.

My computer is very slow uploading how do i fix this problem please

You may need to provide more details on this. But...
1). Do you mean that your computer is slow BOOTING up?
It may be that you need to Upgrade your RAM (memory) because as you add more programs applications to your computer over time, many of them load up some apps into memory on computer start-up. One way out is to type msconfig.exe (Start > Run > msconfig.exe), go to 'Start up' and uncheck the programs you can do without on start-up. But best way is to increase Memory.
2). Do you mean UPLOADING files to the internet?
This will depend on the speed of your Internet Link, and / or the speed of the server on the internet you are uploading to. Try uploading to some other destination and compare. If it is slow generally, then you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider and ask for Uplink bandwidth increase.
Hope this helped.

My computer is really slow. any suggestions?

You can do the following:

1. Perform a Disk Cleanup to delete all uneccessary files from your computer. Click Start button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup. Choose drive C: and check all the boxes and start cleanup by hitting Ok.

2. Do a virus scan. The computer might be compromised thus performing so slow. Here's an effective and free online scan: http://eset.com/onlinescan

3. Defrag your computer. Go to Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Defragmenter. This is used to increase access speed by rearranging files stored in your computer.

4. Check for your computer's memory. If you have 2 memory sticks installed, one might have failed. Right click your My Computer and choose Properties. On the general tab, check if it still giving you the value of memory that you used to have on your computer.

Hope this helps.

My computer is slow and i have done all things that usually are done first like delete cookies and defrag but it is still really slow and I have broadband cable. can you help me? Do I need to check some...

next time you turn it on go through a Disk Clean up . Press start, goto All Programs, click on Accessories, go to system tools, and click onDisk Clean up...
it might take a while because its loading up all the unnecessary things on your computer2.gifthat you dont use. after its done it should show a list of things to bedeleted. it should also show you how much memory it will clear up.press okay and it will start cleaning. this process will take some timeso be patient. in the end it will provide a slight increase in the computers speed and performance.
