Tractor stalls after approx. 15-20 of run time (1957 farmall cub)

It will start back up after 5 min. but only run for 2-3 minutes. I replaced the coil (6V pos. ground system) with one from Tractor Supply and the tractor won't start at all. Put the old coil back in and it fires right up. Is it a coil problem? The coil I bought is 6v IH coil but the terminals are on the opposite end. The coil for 12v systems looks just like the one in there now?????????

Show me how to wire farmall cub tractor when converting from 6 volt to 12 volt. It's a 1951 farmall cub

Replace the coil with a 12volt coil. Replace the generator with an alternator. Replace any light bulbs with 12volt. Fit the new 12volt battery in with the negative terminal to chassis! and there you have it.

1957 Farmall Cub was running and starting fine. Started most of the time when the engine turned over. I was pulling some dirt and made a couple of passes. After a couple of passes it shut down and would... name is Keith..and i restore tractors..and when they dont run..its usually from the lack of spark or fuel...but its common on the cubs to have rust(trash) in the fuel tank..but both the gas and spark are easy to check..i hope this has helped

Engine quits after running 15 min name is Keith..i restore mostly old Ford tractors but i work on others...and this problem that you are having is kind of puzzling..but whatever it is..its either fuel or ignition..on the ignition side of it..i would suspect the coil or the condenser is breaking down when the engine warms up..and on the fuel side..i would suspect rust(trash) in your fuel tank and its stopping up your fuel line(which will need to be blown out with air)..or the fuel line is too close to a heat source and its vapor locking...i hope this will help..please write back if this doesnt
