I have two Tehcnics 1200 turntables. On my right deck, the bass frequency range is cut out. It almost sounds as if a filter is on the turntable. I have switched inputs into my mixer, switched needles, and the problem still lies in the turntable itself. What is the problem with my right deck, why is it doing this?

I didn't know that a turntable had bass control on it. If it has why not turn the bass down? I think it is your receiver not the turntable

Could be a couple of things. Could be the alignment, weighting, tracking or all of those causing this. It could be the gain structure on your mixer is not set and is too high. Maybe that the output of the cartridge is to high for standard mm inputs

You could be getting acoustic feedback from the speakers to the TT's. Lower the volume or somehow isolate them from room sounds and vibrations.

And it will be. I can almost steak my life on it. Easy to replace. Most djs had to already. Most off us went to Radio Shack and bought the 6 foot gold RCA's and cut them in half for both decks. Its not that hard to do. Any problems message me.

You can try adjusting the pitch's gain, which is located on the pitch control circuit board. Only problem is that you'll have to take apart your turntable in order to get to that section (its on the bottom).

If that does not work, your pitch might be bad, or one of the main circuit drive IC's might be bad.

Get an external pre-amp. They range in price from 25-100 and more, depending on the capabilities. All over Ebay, and electronics sites. That will fix your problem. Hope this helps

If you've already replaced the RCA /Phono cables, then the only other item that would cause this kind of problem is your tonearm, and it will need to be replaced.

1. Assuming there is no problem with your amplifier of input cable, the headshell/tone-arm needs rewiring. This is very thin flexible wire and not easy to do, but can be done if you are careful.

2. Turntables require a special input on your amplifier which has a frequency response that is suitable for them. If you connect a turntable to an ordinary input, it will sound tinny. If you don't have a turntable input (known as a phono input [from phonograph]) you will need to use a preamplifier with your turntable.

Most if not all turntables would need to be connected to a PHONO INput which is high impedance with a high gain pre-amplifier stage. It will not work when connected to an AUX, CD or any line level inputs. Alternately, if your amp does not have any Phono Inputs, you can feed the turntable output to a preamp which can then be connected to any any line level inputs. An example may be found here or here. Additionally, there are some turntables with a built-in preamp.
