Yes, the lamps are made to be for most models replaceable by the owner.

Most the lamp is located up front behind the cover below the screen (Model number?) and you remove a door, back out two (usually Allen bolts) and the whole cartridge with lamp pulls out (has a handle).

To get a idea of lamp price Google the model number with "lamp".

You Tube has video instructions for replacing the lamp for most models---Get a original Sony replacement and not a generic one.

Bulbs are sold either loose or the whole thing with the cartridge--get the cartridge as easy to replace.

I have a 2007 Sony 60AKDS3000 rear projection. It

You can by the lamp online from various outlets. They usually run around $150 to $200 and are pretty easy to install at the back of the television. Make sure the TV is unplugged and use a screwdriver to remove the outer cover and loosen the lamp housing. Disconnect the connector and install the new lamp. Re-install the screws. take special care not to touch the lamp because your skin oils can cause the lamp to fail. Make sure you go into the menu for the televison when your done and rest the lamp timer.

Here is a link to a web-site that sells lamps. Definently shop around prices can very greatly.

Large light blue spot when TV is on

It is a defective light engine and is not a user replaceable part. In most case the part will cost close to 1000 if not more.

Hitachi rear projection lcd lp500 series

It is likely the projection lamp is weak, causing the picture to cycle on and off. Take the lamp out and examine the reflector. If it is dull and cloudy, it's time to replace the lamp. A new lamp will have a reflector that is shiny and looks like a mirror. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

MY TV has a blue cloud on the left side

Blue lcd is burnt up.. Normally happens due to excess heat from poor ventilation or not changing the lamp at the required time.. Allways happens on the blue as blue light is the hottest wave length, and as the lamp burns, it shifts to that side. Nothing you can do but replace the lcd itself. From the image shown, looks like the unit uses sony lcds.. Sonys are well known for there burns.. No quick fix on this one.
