Question about Fans

1 Answer

I have a Hampton Bay or Hunter?? Ceiling fan that is Remote Control. It all of the sudden started acting strange--ie. The light started going from Dim to Bright and none of the functions on the remote control would work any longer, the only way to get it to stop doing this was to turn it off at the wall switch, after turning it off at the wall switch it would not come back on and the light would not work. I checked the battery in the Remote, it was good. So I purchased a new remote controller to install in the fan and now cannot get the canopy off at the ceiling to get to the remote for replacement. Any Ideas???

I have the same problem. I have a Hunter Fan. The light flashes on and off but the fan will not work. I replaced the battery in the remote but that did not help.

I had the same problem and it turns out the remote control was being pressed in a drawer. If you hold down the light button it will cause the light to dim and get bright again and the only way to stop it is if you turn it off at the switch because then the remote no longer works.

The canopy should turn either left or right to remove. I'm sure you've tried this, but if the fan's been there awhile, it may just be a little stuck and you need to work at it.

with Hampton Fans,, normally if the remote is good with a known good battery , and it quits working,, its the remote receiver, not the actual remote that goes bad. you can contact these guys I heard they have the part you need http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php

Your best bet with this would be to call and talk to an electrician over the phone, or contact Hampton Bay. We are seriously liable if we tell you one thing and it turns out to be something else.

There is usually a slide switch on the side below the motor.

I don't believe any of them reverse from the remote control.

LIGHT AND FAN ARE NOT WORKING. HAMPTON BAY LIGHT IS NOT WORKING

Could be a loose wire up inside the fan. I would be very careful in its use. Might I suggest getting an electrician in to resolve this issue. You do not want to battle a fire over a fan light issue.
